Behind Space '99 Lyrics
call me by my astral name
breeding fear through worldless toungh
heavenly thirst - unspeakable pain
emptied from all human motions
confront the faceless wrath
beckoning silent from a sphere behind space
trough twisted ruins of uncompleted dreams
signs of towers reaching for the moon
they´re clawing at the skies they gonna pull it down
intensity I feel the lava rushing through my veins
stars are reforming to enter the fourth dimension
behind al galaxies through timeless aenos of frost
unearthly hunger- angels decent
breeding fear through worldless toungh
heavenly thirst - unspeakable pain
emptied from all human motions
confront the faceless wrath
trough twisted ruins of uncompleted dreams
signs of towers reaching for the moon
they´re clawing at the skies they gonna pull it down
stars are reforming to enter the fourth dimension
unearthly hunger- angels decent

anybody read some novels by H.P. Lovecraft? the lyrics of this song are just like if they were written by him... beyond the limits of the universe, further than anyone could just even imagine, there is something, which humans will never comprehend, never understand, and never discover, only when your spirit is out of your body, you just don't remember anything of it. this is fascinating, and what is more, it can't be proved, that, in fact, it's not true... just sends chills down my spine :D love this song, its soo creepy, and brutal, and i don't know any good word to describe it...makes me feel, that i am only a nonimportant grain of sand in this universe...all we humans are. just read Lovecraft's "From Beyond" and "Beyond the Wall of Sleep" and you'll see what i'm talking about
In Flames We Trust
Hmmm, I liked the original Behind Space too, when Dark Tranquillity's Michael Stainne was singing ... the lyrics haven't changed, but when Stainne says "We are now entering dimensions behind space!" his voice changed, on this, Friden doesn't change his voice ... which is the only downside. The instruments and vocals otherwise are definately improved. The Lunar strain album was generally about dark fantasy worlds and creations, this is no different ... good song, whichever version you listen to.
one of my favorite songs, i like the '99 version alot
i saw in flames recently and they introduced the song by saying that they have writtent the best song ever...
not quite true but close
I thought about this after seeing the movie Event Horizon. The 4th dimension behind space could be Hell, or just an awesome happy place.. but that doesnt quite fit in with "I feel the lava rushing through my veins".. or with a little heroin it could
haha i saw in flames live and anders was like " this next song is about caring and love" or some shit like that then the first riff came in it was sick
This song rips.
To understand what this song is about you must know where it came from, Anders wrote this song about 15 years ago its been on 4 of their cds(lunar strain, TJR,tokyo showdowbn, colony) this is the most popular song i would say by them and they believe so too. take the meanings as literally as you would in the Bible, CALL ME BY MY ASTRAL NAME, otherwise known as his True name not by his name given to him by his parents but his (Souls) name. this may seem strange to few. look into or research something called "astral projection" or to the un-enlightened its when your soul removes itself from your body and travels the universe, looney yes but un-true who knows, remember it was crazy a while back to say the earth was round. but i believe everyone reading this post must have an open mind if the listen to IN-flames anyway. Alexm123451 you are correct anders told you what this song was about to astrally project your body has to be rid of fear and you must be a being of love . Anders likes to keep fans and is serious with his music, not many ppl will support in flames if he claims he can travel the universe by his soul leaving his body. plus lyrics are artistic expression and if you ask the writer what it means they will directly reword the question "what does it mean to you" so song interpretation is for YOU. Of course Anders loving things dark creepy and mysterious touches on the evil parts of everything, such as an evil entity (faceless wrath)that lurks (mislabeled devil/lucifer by some. anyway fuck the frail shit this song fucking shreds, the version appeearing on colony is sick, the keyboard with the pipe oragan is creepy yet baddasss, my favorite version would defintly be the live performane of it on the Tokyo Showdown cd, changed up the solo and middle parts abit and put some pinch harmonics in there witch kick ass, plus it just sounds like it would in person, if you cant play it live then dont add useless shit on your cd right, and these guys deliver. SHRED
I thought Anders joined AFTER the Jester Race...Which was after this song...So how did he write it?
yeah good job hrvster of sorrow! Anders wasn't in the band on their first album. my guess would be that Jesper Stromblad wrote it. i dunno about the lyrics though. who wrote lyrics on Lunar Strain? any one know? i dunno. the soul escaping the body seems like it could be. i'd go for the fantasy/sci-fi version, myself. alot of their earlier stuff was that...
