World of Promises (Treat cover) Lyrics

They come from a land were the sun don´t shine
running away from the cold
They travel so far in the name of love
hoping the dreams will come true

Walking the way through endless fields
trying to make it together
And they will give anything
just to be free from the pain
and they won´t surrender

Living in a world of promises
Living in a world of dreams and hopes
Living in a world of promises

Lost in the city wondering why
no one will open the door
It´s more to the truth than meets the eye
something they all felt before
And they will give anything
just to stand tall once again
and they won´t surrender

Living in a world of promises
Living in a world of dreams and hopes
Living in a world of promises

In the tan of the nigh can hear them crying
out for a life to hol on to
Somebody knows were the answers lying
wait for your trails and don´t let go

Living in a world of promises
Living in a world of dreams and hopes
Living in a world of promises

Just for the record, In Flames didn't really write this song. It is actually a cover of "World of Promises" by Treat. Although I will almost bet money that the In Flames version is better :)

ppl fleeing a worse life could well be true. But it does say "living" in a world of promises ... Present tense, so it's not exactly like running away to go to this "world of promises". It could be about the BS ppl can recieve nowadays, someone waiting to be liberated by some higher power - yet it won't come, because that's all it is. A promise. All words. That mean nothing.

meh u never know...i do think it is about fleeing europe in WWII, this isnt as symbolic as the rest of In Flames songs cuz they never wrote it. I did speak wrong in my first posting though. THe world of Promises is Germany. The world hitler promised all if the jews were dead and democracy destroyed

how about the Native Americans and the "trail of tears" how many of them kept having to move and stuff, where the nation of promises and all that was said to be the US at the time. they still fight, and wont surrendor. i think this is about that, not just WWII immigrants. although i dont know where "city" would fit into my thing.

I think this song is more likely referencing the emigrants from Russia..

"running away from the cold" reminds me of the Russian winter that claimed millions of lives.
