Brush The Dust Away Lyrics
In the most desolate corner
A bad case of the urban blues
Another brick in the living shadow
All inhale the downward spiral
Hey, get in line for tragic
Let us dance to the pistol magic
Just aim and end another
But think, as I rape your mother
Another player joins the table
Who I can or cannot trust
When do we get assigned?
Pure and precious with bad intentions
Hey, come and join the show
All the cameras are ready to go
Just aim and end another
But think, as I rape your mother
A single step - a garbled life
Where's the profit?
Your rage - the pain
Will it all be worth it?
Genetic, it seems to be....
Abandon, the mass ideal
We think we're in control then we become the things we hate
Lets re-unite and brush the dust away
Obtain a prosperous future
and the admiration of all
Act in "the sensations" media hour
All inhale the downward spiral
A bad case of the urban blues
Another brick in the living shadow
All inhale the downward spiral
Let us dance to the pistol magic
Just aim and end another
But think, as I rape your mother
Who I can or cannot trust
When do we get assigned?
Pure and precious with bad intentions
All the cameras are ready to go
Just aim and end another
But think, as I rape your mother
Where's the profit?
Your rage - the pain
Will it all be worth it?
Abandon, the mass ideal
We think we're in control then we become the things we hate
Lets re-unite and brush the dust away
and the admiration of all
Act in "the sensations" media hour
All inhale the downward spiral

This song is one of their best on Clayman. I guess he is refering to identity and brushing the dust away is rejecting popular culture. Avoid becoming an icon. But think as I rape your mother; being fake.
"We think we're in control then we become the things we hate, Lets re-unite and brush the dust away"
Its time to put away all our fears and doubts to make this life worth living with love
The lyrics indicate to me that a person is depressed "A bad case of the urban blues" and he shoots some one and the media creates into a huge public thing and that when that happens the media shouldnt get invovled "Hey, come and join the show All the cameras are ready to go Just aim and end another" and in that its the same as shooting someone and we need to re-unite and brush the dust away.
Great song, and meaningfull lyrics, but personally I think that "but think, as I rape your mother" line kinda ruins the feeling..
yeah , i ruins my feelings too
Agree with you two. It's a great song but "but think, as I rape your mother" makes the lyric bad,
I think it's about how people get caught up in the idea of revenge and retribution and then everything spirals downwards into anarchy. I first got this impression from the lyric "Hey, get in line for tragic Let us dance to the pistol magic", and everything else seems to fit from that.
first off AWESOME SONG second: as woro said, the "but think as i rape your mother" part really annoys me. third: afflicted4life is right about the meaning as far as i'm concerned fourth: the drums ROCK fifth: that solo, and chorus riff are also AWESOME sixth: inflames is the best band ever (needless to say)
To me, this song seems like it is a follow-up to Swim. It could also be used as a follow-up to Reroute to Remain (the song), as both songs deal with revolution/rebellion/revolting/breaking off and creating new worlds/systems.
This song is about rebuilding the world after a violent revolution. It's about creating a new society where all the shit that exists in our society just won't work or exist. But somebody is trying to corrupt it and destroy what could be beautilful Alternatively, this song could be about some people plotting a revolution, and the differing opinions of how it should be done and who should do what after the revolution.
"Another player joins the table Who I can or cannot trust When do we get assigned? Pure and precious with bad intentions"
pretty much sums up why I think this song is about what I think it is about.
As for the "rape your mother": Any "true" In Flames fan knows that "mother" always mean MOTHER EARTH.
