why is this song so good? i've had this cd for, what? ..let's say a long time, and everytime i hear this song, i love it more.
i love the title of this song! i feel this way with every relationship i enter into, they are all doomed for tragedy. "i'll probably hang upside down from wooden rafters in my home and look at old photos of you," ahh what a great line

yeah those last two quotes are awesome. but really i dont even like this song as much as some of the other ones but ill listen to it just for those two lines! ha. yeah.
Yeah, this is one of those songs that wouldn't be the same if the lyrics were anything different. The lyrics to me mean that Chris is remembering an old relationship. Telling himself... well there's a reason for everything and it just wasn't meant to be but he can't help thinking he wish it weren't that way. I dunno... I can never really know unless I asked Chris.
I always thought it was amazing how it could be such an energetic, almost bouncy song, and yet the lyrics conjure such sad images. "even the most beautiful of all roses must someday crumble to dust and fade away. It's certain tragedy" I think that line is my outlook on life. It's so depressing, and yet when I hear it sung it's turned around. Almost uplifting.
That is so true, all relationships (besides like being married) end in crappy ways. Certain Tragedy. You would think this song would depress the crap out of you but it seems... to help you. Its grate.

first off this song is professional(cool). And I am listening to it right now. At the beginning it sounds like the longer the rlationship lasts it is alwas the same. And then it seems to be he's giving so much much not really getting the same in return. And the choking reference,I think that the same thing over and over is choking the life from him, or killing him emotionally. I guess thats what I think.
To me, I think this means that the relationship they are in is coming to its inevitable end. They have been going around in circles and still cannot find a way to resolve what is keeping them apart. He wants to tell her that it is over, but doesn't know how. He longs for the days when they had something beautiful, because that beauty, like a rose's, has faded, leaving only something that is crumbling away before his eyes.
