Too Cool Queenie Lyrics
There was this girl
Who lived not too long ago
As a matter of fact I think
She lives still
She knew she could do no wrong
Just singin' those songs
That we all knew
She would always crash the party
It was no surprise
It was for her
Too Cool Queenie
There was this boy
He played in a rock-n-roll band
And he wasn't half-bad,
At saving the world
She said he could do no right
So he took his life
His story is true
It's ok cause what goes around, comes around
It's all right cause what goes around, comes around
And now this girl,
Yeah she got real famous
And she made lots of money and
Some of his too
But still she thinks she can do no wrong
Just playing those songs
She's all too cool
Who lived not too long ago
As a matter of fact I think
She lives still
She knew she could do no wrong
Just singin' those songs
That we all knew
It was no surprise
It was for her
He played in a rock-n-roll band
And he wasn't half-bad,
At saving the world
She said he could do no right
So he took his life
His story is true
It's all right cause what goes around, comes around
Yeah she got real famous
And she made lots of money and
Some of his too
But still she thinks she can do no wrong
Just playing those songs
She's all too cool

I think It's about Cortney too, but it can be about Lennon and Yoko Ono too
@Fedo good catch!
@Fedo good catch!
this one doesnt really have to be interpreted that much. scott used to have a crush on courtney love, its just about her and how shes kind of cheated her way through life by marrying kurt cobain then killing him and making money off songs he wrote
...what? did i just say that?
her life in a nutshell

This is what the song is about to the best of my recollection.....
There was this girl Who lived not too long ago (courtney love) As a matter of fact I think She lives still (still alive) She knew she could do no wrong (her music was mostly about partying and being a diva) Just singin' those songs (in Hole) That we all knew (because Hole was on MTV because Courtney was with Kurt)
She would always crash the party (party as in when scott and kurt were doing heroin) It was no surprise (they both knew of there drug dependency because they were best friends) It was for her (she was not aware, she always thought they did it for a good time)
Too Cool Queenie (she was too cool to join the "party")
There was this boy (kurt cobain) He played in a rock-n-roll band (nirvana) And he wasn't half-bad, At saving the world (Nirvana changed the way people listened to music, grundge became cool) She said he could do no right (courtney used to tell kurt that he would never get anywhere cause he was an abuser) So he took his life (his suicide) His story is true (this is obviously about kurt cause its the only time he uses the word he, usually its him)
It's ok cause what goes around, comes around (75% of people(or anyone who knew the true nirvana story) hate/blame courtney for kurt's suicide) It's all right cause what goes around, comes around
And now this girl, Yeah she got real famous (famous for being his widow) And she made lots of money and (off royalties, her band, and his book) Some of his too (mostly from his book) But still she thinks she can do no wrong (still in Hole at this time) Just playing those songs (although she was in mourning her songs were still about partying and being a diva) She's all too cool (kurts suicide barely effected her)
i have been listening to stp for 15 years......
Totally agree with diegopardonon. I have also listened to STP's for a long time (mid 90's) I like this song and completely independently came up with the Kurt/Courtney meaning. I can't imagine it being about much else since each line seems to fit right. Maybe Scott doesn't like to talk about the meaning so it's controversial?

@diegopardon My guess is that the "Queenie" part of the title may also be an homage (musically not lyrically) to the band Queen. On the line "Too Cool Queenie" a flanger effect is used which Queen liked to used on they're songs. I have no ideas though, just an observation.

At the Houston concert when STP performed this song, Scott made a comment at the end about her having lots of plastic surgery too.
@eustaciawildeve Ha Ha Scott fucking rocked dude... we need more people like him... people that actually give a shit...

Scott Weiland has refused to comment on the song. It could be about Courtney Love, as the lyrics describe a woman who berates a man in a Rock band until he kills himself. Wieland and Love spent some time together in the late '90s.
Catchy Tune. Defintitely would describe Courtney's life. Especially her "Don't give a damn about anybody except herself" attitude. Which led in turn to Kurt's death, her drug and alcohol fueled acts of stupidity, and neglect fo her daughter. I imagine if Sid and Nancy were alive at that time instead of Kurt and Courtney, this is what they would be like, except Nancy Spungen couldn't sing or play a guitar. Well you don't really need to know how to sing or play to be in a punk band, do you? LMAO Anyways, not dissin punk. Just sayin punk is for everyone, not just pretentious bastards. Oops, went on a tangent there for a sec....
I have to agree with most comments here. These song lyrics fit Courtney Love like a glove. The lyrics are firmly about her life. He most likely won't say who it's about, for legal reasons. If he did, Courtney would contact all her lawyers and sue for slander. Being the Too Cool Queenie she is. She can never have enough money, even after she had Kurt murdered. The thing I laugh about now, is she's aging fast and she looks like she's 60 years old. I laugh because she's such an egomatic slut who is realising she is looking "Hard" and there's not enough makeup in the world to cover up her rapidly aging face. "If the glove fits, you must not acquit"
It actually is about Courtney Love. The first verse describes her personality, the second describes her affect on Kurt Cobain and how he ended up commiting suicide. The final verse is about her life after Kurt died.
It's definately about Kurt & Courtney, not Lennon & Yoko as can be seen in the line "So he took his life", because Lennon didn't take his own life, na'amean?
scott refuses to comment on this song. all your saying is just speculation.
