I'm totally diggin this song right now. I think the meaning speaks for itself. I love the imagery of standing in her 'golden garden'. Its great how the story progresses to his downfall.
Does anyone know if the character Dolly Mae actually exists or is based on anyone?

Humorous little song that is often overlooked in Jimi's catalog. Kind of reminds me of a Dylanesque song where the characters are doing something absurd.
Humerous? Well I don't think I'd call it humerous. I guess there are some somewhat amusing parts, but to me, it sounds like he dies at the end...
Yeah I love this song... at the end when she can finally say We Don't Have to Wait 'til Tomorrow, her father shoots Jimi and he dies. And Jimi won't be around tomorrow.
