Posters Lyrics
because the posters on the wall that don’t look like him at all.
So he ties it up he tucks it in he pulls it back he gives a grin,
laughin at himself because he knows he aint loved at all.
He gets his courage from the can, it makes him feel like a man
because he’s lovin all the ladies but the ladies don’t love him at all.
When he’s not drunk he’s only stuck on himself,
and then he has the nerve to say he needs a descent girl.
because the body of the doll that don’t look like hers at all.
So she drops it on she sucks it in she throws it up and gives a grin,
laughin at herself because she knows she aint that at all.
All caught up in the trends well the truth began to bend
and the next thing you know man there just aint no truth left at all.
Cause when the pretty girl walks, she walks so proud,
and when the pretty girl laughs, oh man, she laughs so loud.
She hasn’t had a day to relax,
since she’s lost her ability to think...clearly.
Check out my outside there aint nothing in here.
Well I’m a superficial, systematic, music television addict.
Check out my outsides there aint nothing in here-comes another one,
just like the other lookin at himself but wishin he was someone else because
the posters on the wall that don’t look like him,
ties it up and tucks it in and pulls it back and gives a grin.
Laughing at himself because he knows he aint loved at all.
Knows he aint loved at all
cmon yall. i cant believe know one has commented on this. its awesome. especially the acoustic version. this song is pretty straight forward...the boy feels bad cause he doesnt look like the models and rock stars of the world. so to drown his sorrow he drinks. the girl is bulimic cause she dont look like the models and what not of the world. at the end of the song, he's just sayin that too many people are copies of others. great song period zach
you're completely right about this song dispatch. everyone is so concerned about being who everyone else wants them to be. often when people are allowed to be free, they immitate others. it makes u appreciate individuality, and remember not to be so caught up with what society had forced upon us
I love how he sings this. The way he delivers the words- Just rolls off his tongue.
I agree with dispatchrocks and grafetepymp for the most part. I like to think it concentrates more on societal pressure than being individual and imitating others. But those two, especially in this case are closely related.
Wanting to fit the image and mold society has created for us. :bah:
I think every teen girl sits at home crying to this song. It's too weird how Jack so easily and simply puts such a strong and complicated emotion into words. He makes it seem way to easy. If understanding teenage insecurities was really this easy, do you really think so many would suffer? Jack Johnson is a genius.
I think this is probably my favorite song on the album. Bubble Toes and Inaudible Memories are pretty close though. Like Anna said, I believe it's more about peer pressure and trying to fit in than trying to be someone else. It's true that often when you are trying to fit in you change some of your little quirks, but I think this song is more of the little things, the right clothes, the right hair style, not so much your actions.
i downloaded this song off winmx and it was titled "ain't loved at all" does anyone know the story behind the name change or anything? absolutely great song, by the way
I don't think it was so much a name change, just that the person who put it on there didn't know the title of the song and just put the most repeated line of the song because that's how most pop songs are titled..but yea I absolutely love this song..it's right behind Bubble Toes.
all around wonderful song
we live in a world where the vase majority believe that you are only beautiful if you're a bulimic headcase this song rocks, and i reckon more people need to listen to songs like this rather then crap that pours out of the talentless and surgically enhanced britany spears
This song has a great and strong meaning to me. When I hear the song, it makes me think of how supermodels on Poster's look. They are perfect, and I personally think it's about a guy who acts conceited, but thinks he deserves a perfect girl. The girl on the other hand is a girl who likes the guy, and has a big crush on him, she tries to mold herself to a "person on a poster" (Supermodel), to please the guy, but if it aint this then it aint that as a matter of fact refers to how neither person is pleased with what they have or what they are.
