Life's A Gas Lyrics

I could have loved you girl
Like a planet
I could have chained your heart
To a star
But it really doesn't matter at all
No it really doesn't matter at all
Life's a gas
I hope it's gonna last
I could have built a house
On the ocean
I could have placed your love
In the sky
I could have turned you
Into a priestess
I could have burned
Your fate in the sand

I feel like Bolan is saying that we could spend our time dwelling on all of the missed opportunities in our lives, but instead we should just say... Life is an enigma. We don't know why we are all here so, we should just enjoy the rest of our time on the planet because nothing really matters.

This is more of a breakup song. It's all about the things you could have done had you been given achance.

I think Pitchfork described Bolan as being accidentally mystical and poetic, and I kind of have to agree. How do you love a girl like a planet? I don't know, but I think that's a great line.

Bolan's own words "I wrote "Life's a Gas" when I was feeling that life was a lot of fun."

My favorite T. Rex song. 2:20 of pure heaven.

He really loved this girl but for whatever reason ( she's making a mistake ) she doesn't/won't feel the same way.

BUT it really doesn't matter; lifes has been fine w/ out her in fact she'd prolly just mess it up.

yet the slight feeling of what he thinks could've been. REAL good song.
