Bad Religion Lyrics
can you feel i'm not like you anymore
i can't see i can't breathe
see you quiver like the dogs on the streets
looking down on as i beat you
it's bad religion from a broken nation
it's a contradiction
and i can't take it anymore
who's to say i won't like you anyway
take a deep breath i'm alive
can you feel me i'm alive inside of you
agony creeps up behind you...
it's a bad religion from a broken nation
it's a contradiction
and i can't take it any fucking way!
can you feel it? i gotta live with it everyday
i can't take the pressure, i'm going insane
now go away!
i can't see i can't breathe
see you quiver like the dogs on the streets
looking down on as i beat you
it's bad religion from a broken nation
it's a contradiction
and i can't take it anymore
who's to say i won't like you anyway
take a deep breath i'm alive
can you feel me i'm alive inside of you
agony creeps up behind you...
it's a bad religion from a broken nation
it's a contradiction
and i can't take it any fucking way!
can you feel it? i gotta live with it everyday
i can't take the pressure, i'm going insane
now go away!

This song may have been written about abortion or mainstream religions originally, but I believe that it can take on a different meaning to each person. Personally, as a former Christian, I take the meaning as a way to speak-out against Christianity. It is full of people who constantly say that they accept others, but then refuse to accept people of other religions, sexual orientations, and sometimes race. This may just be the people I've dealt with, or not. These lyrics are a very good description of how I feel about followers of a religion they didn't choose, or even really understand. But whatever you think it means, I'm not going to contest that. This is just what it means to me.
Though everyone does have some amazing takes on this song, it is in fact about Sully's strong stance against abortion. As many already know Sully is a devout Wiccan (as expressed by other songs; Voodoo, Spiral, Re-Align) and reverance for life is one of the major tenets of his belief. He also has admitted that though he does not believe in Christianity (Catholicism or Protestantism) he has expressed in many interviews that he respects others beliefs. He is not trying to bring down the Catholic faith or mainstream religion. He is even quoted to have said, "I never wanted to be the posterboy for witchcraft. What I believe is my business."
I fuckin love this song, its my favorite Godsmack song there is!!!!
this is one of godsmacks greatest songs and one of my favorite lyrics for all of us who have had enough with religion. For those of us who can't take it anymore, pressured by all their bullshit, and can't take it any fucking way. Godsmack is fucking awesome.
This is the only Godsmack song that Tommy had any part in writing.
I go with hockeyguy3066

this song is one note
Perhaps the most simplistic guitar riff ever written. Still a sweet song though.
