The Assassin Lyrics
They've put the word about
I'm coming after you
It's the thrill of the chase
And I'm coming after you
Study the things you do
And the pattern of your ways
I hear your telephone talk
I want to understand the way you think
Better watch out,cos I'm the assassin,
Better watch out,better watch out
(repeat)
I taste the smell of death
I know the moment's getting closer
I feel my hands go tight
Excitement running through my veins
I've got you dead to rights
The triggers waiting for my finger
It's just the final touch
You can kiss your arse goodbye
Not sure of the meaning or particualr influence for this song, but ive got to say, as a massive Maiden fan, this to me is one of their poorest efforts. Musically it's alright, but lyrically it just feels very lazy/thrown together and settled with at the last minute. The singing in general is ok, but i feel Bruce could have gone that extra step.
In all honestly the whole No Prayer for the Dying album has a lot lacking - It's a mix of Steve's 'Maiden' songs and Bruce's 'classic rock solo' work. There's no real structure to the album. Some songs are catchy and good overall.. e.g. Tailgunner... that is a typically awesome Iron Maiden song, but in general it's not a great album and the fact that they never play anything off it shows that the band feel the same. Luckily they redeemed themselves with the follow up album Fear of the Dark.
An assasin's work... how the mind runs
Kind of like killers. a very underated song.
I like this song alot, but the chorus just reminds me of scooby doo.
Better watch out!
