Déjà Vu Lyrics
When you see familiar faces,
But you don't remember where they're from,
Could you be wrong?
When you've been particular places,
That you know you've never been before,
Can you be sure?
'Cause you know this has happened before,
And you know that this moment in time is for real,
And you know when you feel Deja vu.
Chorus:
Feel like I've been here before,
Feel like I've been here before.
Ever had a conversation,
That you realise you've had before,
Isn't it strange?
Have you ever talked to someone,
And you feel you know what's coming next?
It feels pre-arranged.
'Cause you know that you've heard it before,
And you feel that this moment in time is surreal,
'Cause you know when you feel deja-vu.
But you don't remember where they're from,
Could you be wrong?
When you've been particular places,
That you know you've never been before,
Can you be sure?
'Cause you know this has happened before,
And you know that this moment in time is for real,
And you know when you feel Deja vu.
Feel like I've been here before,
Feel like I've been here before.
That you realise you've had before,
Isn't it strange?
Have you ever talked to someone,
And you feel you know what's coming next?
It feels pre-arranged.
'Cause you know that you've heard it before,
And you feel that this moment in time is surreal,
'Cause you know when you feel deja-vu.

I always thought this song was one of Maiden's worst, at least from their glory era, in terms of lyrics. If it's supposed to say anything about the phenomenon of deja vu, well it sounds like a naive child's first encounter with the experience. That's not to say capturing childlike wonder is bad, but this is nothing like that - just very prosaic and uninteresting. Barely even rhymes, and while rhyming isn't always necessary, the worst part is they do attempt one rhyme - "faces" and "places" - a scheme they totally ignore later ("conversation" and "someone" should rhyme). The end result is it just feels like a half-assed mess.
If they wrote a similar song, let's say about the phenomenon of losing blood circulation to your leg, it would go something like:
When you get out of bed But now you can't, instead you fall Are your legs really there?
You cannot feel them But you see they're still there Can you be sure?
Feels like there's no legs at all! Feels like there's no legs at all! Feels like there's no legs at all! Feels like there's no legs at all!
I have to admit your comment made my night "Feels like there's no legs at all!" Hahahahahaha!

Although not the best song of the album I still like it, I love the drumbeats on that song.

That spoof was funny and all but how the hell is this a bad song?

One reason I like this song, is because I usually have a lot of deja vu experiences and am forgetful. Oh, and because the guitar in this song kicks ass.
Yeah, this is good. I get a lot of deja vu too, and it's freaky. Kind of similar to Infinite Dreams.
This song reminds me of Dream Of Mirrors.
Simple subject matter, really. I like it because I can relate well =P
great song, my personal favorite from my personal favorite album of maiden. The sound on the whole album is just sooooo far ahead from late 80's. Great vocals, great riffs, great solos, great concepts..If you dont have somewhere in time, go buy it asap.
The song is off the album Somewhere in Time, which isn't really a concept album, but does have the loose theme of the passage of time. I guess Deja Vu kind of adds to that theme by presenting a paradox of time, time repeating itself, at least in someone's mind.
Very underrated song. I know the lyrics are a little silly but it has a killer melody.
