I love this song so much. There's just something about it. I like that he's fighting to stay alive you know, defying destiny, or whatever. I just love everything about it.
It's about a person "dying" and the conflict beyond, where their soul will go.
"Heaven Can Wait" means something like "Now isn't the time (to die)".
"Take my hand..." is the call to heaven. Later is a reflection on the posibility of Hell, then the soul returns to the body.
Its about a near death experiance.
I LOVE this song - as it most definitely applies to a small portion of my life. Following my fourth (and final) Kidney Stone surgery, code blue was called on me. I did not die on the operating table, nor in recovery ... this actually happened several hours after I had been brought back to my private room. Gone - declared dead for four minutes and 28 seconds. Was sent back, and I quote "Because your work on Earth is unfinished". It's definitely a life changing experience. Those of us who have experienced it know for certain there is life after this. Heaven Can Wait indeed ... heh, they weren't quite ready for me yet. :b

The slow electric guitar opening in this is great. I love how it picks up speed with the drums. This song is just one of the best on "Somewhere In Time". The chorus and the lyrics are superb, as are the vocals and guitar. Very sweezy.

I love this song, it is soooo much fun when they do it live. They bring up people fronm the audience during this song every night. "heaven can waaay-ayyy-aait!....waaay-ayyy-aait!...waaay-ayyy-aait!...heaven can wait for another day!"

i agree with hallowedbytheyname.....Maiden is way better than metallica. it seems to me that maiden doesnt have as big a fan base for some reason. maybe its because they dont put themselves into the public spotlight too often
