I was born into a scene of angriness and greed
And dominance and persecution
My mother was a queen, my dad I've never seen
I was never meant to be
And now I spend my time looking all around
For a man that's nowhere to be found
Until I find him I'm never gonna stop searching
I'm gonna find my man, gonna travel around

'Cause I'm a wrathchild
Yeah, I'm a wrathchild
Yeah, I'm a wrathchild
I'm coming to get you, ooh, yeah, yeah

Say it doesn't matter
Ain't nothin' gonna alter the course of my destination
I know I've got to find some serious piece of mind
Or I know I'll just go crazy
But now I spend my time looking all around
For a man that's nowhere to be found
Until I find him, I'm never gonna stop searching
I'm gonna find my man, gonna travel around

'Cause I'm a wrathchild
Well I'm a wrathchild
Yeah, I'm a wrathchild
I'm coming to get you ooh, yeah, yeah

'Cause I'm a wrathchild
Yeah, I'm a wrathchild
Yeah, I'm a wrathchild
I'm coming to get you, ooh, yeah, yeah

those lyrics are so obvious. i wonder nobody wrote a decent interpretation. maybe you kids are loosing the ability to think properly.

my mother was a queen = whore. I was never meant to be = whores usually don't like getting pregnant from their customers.

    he'll never know his father.

the song truly ROCKS HARD! Paul Di'Anno's voice is cool, so rough. I prefer him much over Bruce.

This song from what I hear is about a young man speaking of his mother and searching for his father whom is absent.

I think it could be about the Odyssey. from the point of view Odysseus' child who was a baby when Odysseus went to war. "scene of angriness and greed, and dominance and persecution." this could describe the atmosphere of the palace where he lived, and the greedy suitors tryign to marry his mother "I'm gonna find my man, gonna travel around." Athena sends him to find Odysseus. "I know I've got to find some serious piece of mind," everyone thinks Odysseus is dead, but there is a chance that he might still be alive.

this would make sense too because Harris writes about ancient legends and crap all the time

I guarantee it won't be about Steve Harris. Iron Maiden didn't have a tendency to write about themselves on the early days. I doubt any of them were "born into a scene of angriness and greed, and dominance and persecution." It will no doubt be from some story or other or perhaps another one of Steve's dreams (the guys must note down everyone of them for potential songs).

Anyway, the song is about someone who is born to a prostitute. He grows up seeking revenge on the man who is his biological father hence WRATHCHILD.

Its simple, and so are you.

I believe the song is about the story of Moses.

"Mother was a Queen" - Moses was adopted by the Queen of Egypt, and raised as her own. "Dad I've never seen" - Again, didn't know his father, because he was adopted. "I was never meant to be" - At the time of Moses, all new-born boys were murdered because of a prophecy or something, and he was spared because he was hidden from the Egyptians and raised by the Royal family.

The rest of the first verse goes on about how he wandered around Egypt before being called by God to do his bidding.

I could be wrong, but it makes sense in my mind.

Damn the guitars in this are good!!!!!!!!! I'd say Dickenson does it better than Di'anno although Di'anno has the edge on a lot of early stuff they both did.

I have no idea what this means to be honest. I agree with mmiller, but "mother was a queen"? I think they just took some kick ass lyrics and stuck them together.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
