Charlotte The Harlot Lyrics
Giving a swish with your arse in the air, don't you know what they're saying?
Charlotte you're so refined when you take all the love that they're giving.
Sticking with every man that you find, don't you know what they're after?
Charlotte you've got your legs in the air, don't you hear all the laughter?
*Chorus*:
Charlotte the Harlot show me your legs,
Charlotte the Harlot take me to bed.
Charlotte the Harlot let me see blood,
Charlotte the Harlot let me see love.
Taking so many men to your room, don't you feel no remorse?
You charge them a "fiver", It's only for starters.
And ten for the main course.
And you've got no feelings, they died long ago.
Don't you care who you let in?
And don't you know you're breaking the law with the service you're giving.
*Chorus*
There was a time when you left me standing there,
Picking up pieces of love off the floor.
Well Charlotte you left me alone in there,
To make your ends as a bloody whore.
Well Charlotte you told me you love me true,
Picking up pieces of love yesterday.
Well Charlotte you're draws are off color too
'Cause you're making love all day.

Although this song was entirely written by Dave Murray, Paul Di'Anno states that Charlotte is a real person in an interview. She was a slut named High Hill Lil, everyone knew her. She'd take anyone 15 and up. Paul says that if you were to show up at her house with some booze, you were going to score.
Who knows if that's factual or not, but I thought I'd just throw that out there.
It's a song about a prostitute. Nuff said really. Not sure of its relevance to real life, but that's what it's about.
the name chralotte occurs in alot of iron maiden songs, this, 22 accacia avenue, here to etertnity and some others i think, is it all the same person?
And also "Hooks in You" - those are the only four songs. Charlotte the Harlot and 22 Acacia Avenue were the obvious ones, but in From Here to Eternity her name is mentioned and "Hooks in You"...I suppose it is implied, I suppose? I don't remember the one behind that, but it is on the base of Charlotte.

And I'll excuse myself! The hint in "Hooks in You" is the beggining, the lyrics state: "I've got the keys to view the number 22" which is referring to 22 Acacia Avenue, where Charlotte lives, thus being along the Charlotte storyline!

It is true, If you go on Google earth and search for 22 acacia avenue, london, england you'll find it. its quite simply about the prostitute, It might be loosely related to Prowler though.
@slipper That is like saying Nightmare on Elm Street is talking about Elm Street in a town called Springfield. Acacia Avenue is generic as crap. And you know 22 was used only because it rhymes. But if look at 22 acacia ave on google street view, it does look whoreish

Sory slipper*, but acordin 2 wikipedia Acacia Avenue is 1 of the most comon streets u get in GB, so much that it became a metaphor 4 an average middle-class suburban street. Acording to them there ar at least 60 of them in GB...
Not as good as 22 Acacia Avenue, but still pretty good. It starts out fast paced, then breacks into an balid. Then it picks up again. this is one of the best off the debute album.
It's one of 2 things.
Dave Murray was quite into drugs around this time. It's such a comical song, maybe he was just high when he wrote it.
Or maybe it was about a woman he loved who was a slut/prostitute.
It's a good song, one of Di'anno's best, but Bruces sequel, 22 Acacia Avenue, is so much better
This song along with the others in the saga, is about a girl, possibly and ex of paul di'anno but he re-named her for the song
Di'Anno does better in the fast bits, but Dickinson is better with the ballad sction in the middle
