Need I say I love you?
Need I say I care?
Need I say that emotion's
Something we don't share?
I don't want to be sitting here
Trying to deceive you
'Cause you know I know baby
That I don't wanna go

We cannot live together
We cannot live apart
That's the situation
I've known it from the start
Every time that I look at you
Well, I can see the future
'Cause you know I know baby
That I don't wanna go

Just throwing it all away
Throwing it all away
Is there nothing that I can say
To make you change your mind
I watch the world go round and round
And see mine turning upside down

Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh
Throw it all away
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh

Now who will light up the darkness?
And who will hold your hand?
Who will find you the answers
When you don't understand?
Why should I have to be the one
Who has to convince you?
'Cause you know I know baby
That I don't wanna go

Someday you'll be sorry
Someday when you're free
Memories will remind you
That our love was meant to be
But late at night, when you call my name
The only sound you'll hear
Is the sound of your voice calling
Calling after me

Just throwing it all away
Throwing it all away
And there's nothing that I can say-ay-ay

Ah, ooh-ooh-ooh (ah), ooh-ooh-ooh (ah)
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh
We're throwing it all away
Ooh-ooh-ooh (ah), ooh-ooh-ooh (ah)
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh
Yes, we're throwing it all away
Ooh-ooh-ooh (ah), ooh-ooh-ooh (ah)
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh
Yes, we're throwing it all away
Ooh-ooh-ooh (ah), ooh-ooh-ooh (ah)
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh

Should be renamed to how to kill a relationship

Need I say I love you
yes Need I say I care
yes Need I say that emotion's, Something we don't share
No. He shouldn't. Don't tell people how they feel.
I don't want to be sitting here
    obviously Trying to deceive you
deceive in what? pretend they have emotions? that the relationship has a prayer?
Cos you know I know baby
does she? another thing he doesnt want to tell her That I don't wanna go.
*** but he is.. without trying to talk to her. which indicates he does want it.

We cannot live together negative We cannot live apart negative That's the situation I've known it from the start
when you feel something you send vibes. bad way to start.
Every time that I look at you I can see the future
Not only did he know it from the start he is thinking negative thoughts every time he looks at her and questions whether he needs to say nice things.
Cos you know I know babe That I don't wanna go. *** Because?

    Throwing it all away
    * whats to throw away if there was nothing from the start Throwing it all away Is there nothing that I can say something nice? To make you change your mind maybe I love you, need you, want to be with you, can see us together, think nice things when I look at you I watch the world go round and round And see mine turning upside down You're throwing it all away. now its her

Now who will light up the darkness Who will hold your hand Who will find you the answers When you don't understand is he doing that now? Why should I have to be the one Who has to convince you
** maybe because he supposedly doesn't want this Cos you know I know baby That I don't wanna go.
    because?

    Someday you'll be sorry
not loving and again focusing on the negative and not trying to convince her to stay Someday when you're free Memories will remind you That our love was meant to be
how can it be meant to be when he knew from the start they wouldn't work? Late at night when you call my name The only sound you'll hear Is the sound of your voice calling Calling after me.
*** not stay i need you or want you but if you dont stay you will be sorry

Just throwing it all away Throwing it all away There's nothing I can say
*** read above he doesn't feel he needs to [translation doesnt want to] We're throwing it all away Yes we're throwing it all away...

Ministry
Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
