Fever Lyrics

I'd spend my days alone
I used to stay at home
Lost in seclusion there
Like I was in a cell
A captured heart as well
Surrounded by despair
Darkness filled my soul
Losing all control

Down on the streets below
Bright city lights would glow
The energy would rise
And through the heat I'd gaze
Still counting empty days
With fire in my eyes
Living through this hell
Can I break this spell Fever.

You set my soul on fire
Fever. You fill me with desire
Fever. You always get it right
Fever. All day and all night

Then one night as I walked
I heard your body talk
I saw a shooting star
In some magnetic trance
Our beating hearts would dance
And crash down from afar
Oh how strange fate is
Never dreamed of this Fever.

You set my soul on fire
Fever. You fill me with desire
Fever. You always get it right
Fever. All day and all night

So destiny has bought us
Oh so close together
We were like angels in the night
Living the dream
At last I'll be with you forever
And all at once it feels so right Fever.

You set my soul on fire
Fever. You fill me with desire
Fever. You always get it right
Fever. All day and all night

It is about the love for being in the city or outside your place(house or whatever). It may also be about a hooker.

This is a criminally overlooked song and is one of the best songs on what I feel to arguably be their best album. They pack so much goodness into 5 minutes here. The chord progressions, multiple sections, and signature Halford vocal delivery (especially before the final chorus) makes this song a flat-out epic.

I just thought that it was about a lover, plain and simple.

Coming off Screaming For Vengance it was always easy to overlook this track i suppose but not for me. In fact i'd go as far as to say it's my favourite track. This is wall-to-wall classic JP songwriting. I've heard it a thousand times and still the section after the solo makes my neckhairs stand and just lift me clean off my feet.

What its about? Rather obvious id have thought: love, desire and longing for that "someone" and all the feelings that go with it.

Sorry to say - but I hear substance abuse in the lyrics again. “ you always get it right-all day and all night “ Listen to “Take these chains” on the same album. Does anyone else connect a theme here ??

Love... aiming to The Eternal Love: "Living the dream. At last I'll be with you forever". So for me it is simply how a person in love idealizes the loved one, not knowing such feeling is our human approach to what it could be our eternal happiness closer to The Creator. So our loved one could be the angel turning on ("You set my soul on fire") our souls when due to sadness they seem to dim.

My Interpretation

Longing for someone, that person you can not or will never be with, that recurring daydream fantasy that consumes you, great song from JP....

Pleasure mixed with sickness is a passional feeling.

I think Fever is a passional song about a sweaty state of body and mind making love with somebody you really wish, warm up lovers until obssesion and sickness. A perfect fact you are going to do the right thing under sick and obssesive conditions you adore, because of this you wish have fever as a sign of success giving all of you as desire from your partner. Perfect lyric describing how really thinks Halford must be enjoyed body and soul fusion making love. Great song, great album ever.
