Con = opposite of pro So it's basically lamenting the unscientific aspect of relationships, where you're left without any answers and are incapable of rationalising; all you can do is feel the consequences in your soul.

Well, matt Bellamy's a devout atheist, and science is generally seen as atheism's answer to religion. So titling a song "con" science seems like an odd change for him.

Perhaps he's talking about the way science itself has become a belief system; that atheists unquestioningly believe scientists the same way theists unquestioningly believe priests (how many of us really know how the Big Bang or the theory of relativity work?)

I wouldn't admit it but this is a stunningly beautiful song. Bellamy's vocals are absolutely chilling. Especially "In fee-eeee-el, In sorrrr-owww-w"

Incredible.

I have a feeling it's about someone dying or going away from him, hence: "I can't pretend choose how it ends you slipped away questions here to stay"

Usually you feel what this song portrays after someone dies. It just fits. It would have fit the scene when my best friend died.

This song is haunting... Seems to be about just the difficulty of life. Simple. Beautiful.

the science of being Conned... he probably feels cheated from a death of someone close or something

I think this song is so simple and yet haunting. It being about the death of someone really comes thru. I was with my mother when she passed away. It was early morning and it was just me and my Dad alone with her. She had been ill a while and we knew the end was near. That feeling of a life slipping away and it's just so very quiet. Just utter silence. There's a moment of shocked stillness when your mind is momentarily grasping the knowledge which really seems portrayed in this song...and then that build up of emotion in the song and Matt's voice...it definitely mirrors the emotions that do swell when someone you care about has died. It's just an overwhelming surge of emotions. I do agree there is double meaning in the title of Con-Science. The word "conscience" which would imply guilt. Which you feel when someone you care about dies...guilt that if you'd have urged them to go to the dr. sooner, take care of themselves more diligently, etc. It's the "I should have done more" feeling which certainly fits these lyrics. And then the "Con+Science" Maybe Con could mean "against" as in "against science". But it could also mean Con as in "Cheat"? As in the word "Con-Artist". If you could cheat the laws of science...maybe you could cheat death?? I don't know....I'm grasping. But that's what came to my mind.

I love the way it builds up to the ending, really progressive. Not somthing that'll get you bouncing around, but not all songs are about that.

I love this song

ive never heard this song, but I've read about it under the title 'conscience' so, judging by the lyrics, he's got a guilty conscience about doing something, or feeling something.

probably c o m p l e t e l y wrong, but oh well.
