Kids In America Lyrics
Down below the cars in the city go rushing by.
I sit here alone and I wonder why.
I can feel the heat but it's soothing.
Heading down, I search for the beat in this dirty town.
Down town the young ones are growing.
We're the kids in America.
Everybody live for the music-go-round.
Look boy, don't check on your watch, not another glance.
I'm not leaving now, honey not a chance.
Much later baby you'll be saying never mind.
You know life is cruel, life is never kind.
Kind hearts don't grab any glory.
We're the kids in America.
Everybody live for the music-go-round.
Got to get a brand new experience.
Feeling right.
Oh don't try to stop baby.
Hold me tight.
Outside Suburbia's sprawling everywhere.
I don't want to go baby.
New York to East California.
There's a new wave coming I warn you.
We're the kids in America.
Everybody live for the music-go-round.
We're the kids
We're the kids in America.
This song gives me shivers up my spine. Considering how much music I listen to, there aren't many song that do that to me.
It is an interesting song. I first heard it on GTA Vice City. It mentions that she is from a British Band. I looked her up and she is the child of Marty Wilde. Who was a pop singer during (I guess from the sound of his music) the 50s.
He is also the one who wrote the song.
There are 2 meanings I can get out of this song. Either it is that A) She is singing about how the kids in America drive the Music industry because of American obsession with Music. Many bands won't even except they made it till they made it to America.
The second meaning is that when she started becoming big in America or possibly touring it she felt like she was a "Kid" to this new land.
Either way I find a catchy song. And even though it is full blown Pop I find there is actual thought put into it than just some Brittany Spears factory produced songs.
New Wave baby! :)
Kinda Strange, I loved this song on Vice City..come to find the lyrics and the only Post mentions that lol..
The mix between the youthful energy of Ricki Wilde and the experience of Marty Wilde came up with some of the best songs of the early 80s.
This New Wave stuff was a great kick of energy that helped launch the 80s, the greatest decade of Rock ever. The song recognizes the difficulties of adolescence, struggling with life, both physically and philosophically. Like a typically tough young punk rocker, she is ready for the challenge, she is tough, and she warns the world to get ready for them.
I was about 10 when this song was released. I can\'t explain the difference between grown up me and 10 year old me listening to it. \nI\'m way too old to be part of the \'woke\' crowd too. \nSo there\'s that. \nNo responses required, I\'m done!
