A Hard Day's Night Lyrics
I think it's funny that nobody seems to have even mentioned the meaning of the song. It's about spending all night having sex, unless I am mistaken. It's a great song. Although I do prefer their later work, I have yet to hear a Beatles song I didn't like.
john lennon said in an interview that this song is actually about prostitution. which is why he wrote the lyrics "ive been working like a dog." the man hasnt had enough money to support his wife's shopping addiction. so he has to resort to working the streets and keep his job as the ceo of a major corporation as well.
It's about a guy who came home from a hard day at home. My favorite song by the Beatles!
The title was taken from a statement Ringo made while filming the movie. He was walking out of the studio after a long day of filming and said, "It's been a hard day.....day is night." after he looked up and noticed it was night time. It is a perfect title song for this wonderful movie.
i deffinetly agree!! AWESOME movie!!!! my favorite part is ( " the old man is probably having an orgasm" john-"ORGASM??!!!!!!" all four guys run out of the room) lol LOVE IT!!!!!

@song4julia He actually coined the phrase a long time before the filming of the movie (after a recording session). Inspired by Ringo's utterance, John used the phrase in his book "In His Own Write" and then remembered it after a hard day's...erm...work...during the film! Some time later it was suggested as a film title, whereupon John set about writing the song (anxious to beat Paul to the task!) @LovelyRita41 - the word is ORGY not orgasm (sounds like you need to look it up in the dictionary!)

This was a great song by the Beatles taken from Ringo even though he didn't mean it. Too bad Terry Bradshaw had to get the lyrics wrong at the super bowl. Man he's stupid.
Ya I saw when he said"I love this song", geeze get it right!
The Beatles early music wasn't nearly as good as their later music.
I agree with IanoDublin...I like the Beatles from 67-70. In the earlier years I think most of there songs sounded alike...
This song is okee I gues...not one of the better ones.
This song was one of first and one that climbed the charts quickly. I do agree with others that belive that the beatles had better material in the later years. But we have to understand that in the beginning they were told what to sing and what not to sing, you know what was popular at that time.
I still think this song was pretty good.
@fabi_jara "they were told what to sing and what not to sing" - I dont think it happened quite like that. They were "steered" by Martin (and Epstein to a lesser extent) - but they were already remember they were already evolving a style of their own by the period of the Decca sessions in 1962, which stood out from not just the few genuine rockers in Britain but from most of the world. [Remember how their first couple of singles were considered too "raw" by the American label]
