It's been a hard day's night
And I've been workin' like a dog
It's been a hard day's night
I should be sleepin' like a log
But when I get home to you
I find the things that you do
Will make me feel alright

You know I work all day
To get you money to buy you things
And it's worth it just to hear you say
You're gonna give me everything
So why on Earth should I moan?
'Cause when I get you alone
You know I feel okay

When I'm home
Everything seems to be right
When I'm home
Feeling you holding me tight, tight, yeah

It's been a hard day's night
And I've been workin' like a dog
It's been a hard day's night
I should be sleepin' like a log
But when I get home to you
I find the things that you do
Will make me feel alright, ow

So why on Earth should I moan?
'Cause when I get you alone
You know I feel okay

When I'm home
Everything seems to be right
When I'm home
Feeling you holding me tight, tight, yeah

Oh, it's been a hard day's night
And I've been workin' like a dog
It's been a hard day's night
I should be sleepin' like a log
But when I get home to you
I find the things that you do
Will make me feel alright
You know I feel alright
You know I feel alright

I think it's funny that nobody seems to have even mentioned the meaning of the song. It's about spending all night having sex, unless I am mistaken. It's a great song. Although I do prefer their later work, I have yet to hear a Beatles song I didn't like.

john lennon said in an interview that this song is actually about prostitution. which is why he wrote the lyrics "ive been working like a dog." the man hasnt had enough money to support his wife's shopping addiction. so he has to resort to working the streets and keep his job as the ceo of a major corporation as well.

It's about a guy who came home from a hard day at home. My favorite song by the Beatles!

The title was taken from a statement Ringo made while filming the movie. He was walking out of the studio after a long day of filming and said, "It's been a hard day.....day is night." after he looked up and noticed it was night time. It is a perfect title song for this wonderful movie.

This was a great song by the Beatles taken from Ringo even though he didn't mean it. Too bad Terry Bradshaw had to get the lyrics wrong at the super bowl. Man he's stupid.

The Beatles early music wasn't nearly as good as their later music.

I agree with IanoDublin...I like the Beatles from 67-70. In the earlier years I think most of there songs sounded alike... This song is okee I gues...not one of the better ones.

This song was one of first and one that climbed the charts quickly. I do agree with others that belive that the beatles had better material in the later years. But we have to understand that in the beginning they were told what to sing and what not to sing, you know what was popular at that time. I still think this song was pretty good.

"Zombie" is about the ethno-political conflict in Ireland. This is obvious if you know anything of the singer (Dolores O'Riordan)'s Irish heritage and understood the "1916" Easter Rising reference. "Another head hangs lowly Child is slowly taken And the violence caused such silence Who are we mistaken - Another mother's breaking Heart is taking over" Laments the Warrington bomb attacks in which two children were fatally injured on March 23rd, 1993. Twelve year old Tim Parry was taken off life support with permission from his mother after five days in the hospital, virtually braindead. "But you see it's not me It's not my family" References how people who are not directly involved with the violence feel about it. They are "zombies" without sympathy who refuse to take action while others suffer.

Moyet later described how her song "Goodbye 70's" had been inspired by her disillusionment with how the late-1970s punk scene had turned out, saying, "'Goodbye 70's' is about punk and not caring how you were dressed, and then I discovered that so many of my friends that I'd thought it all really meant something to just saw it as another trend... That's what 'Goodbye 70's' was all about, about how sour the whole thing became."

The man has pseudo-friends who constantly criticize his actions. They moralize him, "teach" him and advise him to make a significant change in his life, because the way he is and what he does is not what they say it should be. They may find his life lame or immoral. They hold themselves up as role models. The man replies that he will make his own choices and decisions and he does not agree to unconditionally make himself under the influence of questionable quality advice. He justifies this by saying that there is always someone for whom he will be important, no matter what he does and no matter what he is. Although it is not said directly, I read it as meaning that he will always be important to himself in every way and he will always have his own support. "Everyone is different and maybe that's a good thing, but you exceeded that mark 1000 times" - I remember very well how sad the words I once heard (from my peers and it was in negative context) at school made me feel.
