Classic love story true to his western tx roots. One of my favorites as a story, but I think there are alot of songs that are amazing not even listed on this site. I guess I should figure out how to add them, because I have about 8 REK cd's.
Oh it's been too many times and I can't go back
Night bars, guitars, rundown motels like shacks
What it mounts up to I don't want it at all
Lost you and I need you to stay today
Misty green and blue
Love to love to love you
Misty green and blue
Love to love to love you
To be something, to be with you
I don't know where I'm going to
Love to love to love you
Oh every night and day
Half the time it could seem funny
The other half is just too sad
This west bound moon's they rise and fall
Lost you and I need you to stay
Misty green and blue
Love to love to love you
Misty green and blue
Love to love to love you
To be something, to be with you
I don't know where I'm going to
Lost you and I need you to stay, hey
Night bars, guitars, rundown motels like shacks
What it mounts up to I don't want it at all
Lost you and I need you to stay today
Misty green and blue
Love to love to love you
Misty green and blue
Love to love to love you
To be something, to be with you
I don't know where I'm going to
Love to love to love you
Oh every night and day
Half the time it could seem funny
The other half is just too sad
This west bound moon's they rise and fall
Lost you and I need you to stay
Misty green and blue
Love to love to love you
Misty green and blue
Love to love to love you
To be something, to be with you
I don't know where I'm going to
Lost you and I need you to stay, hey

Warren wanted a Beach Boys thing for this one, and Carl Wilson and Billy Hinsche came in, with Carl arranging the vocal parts. The other harmony vocalists (credited as the "Gentlemen Boys") were Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, Zevon's longtime backers Waddy Wachtel and Jorge Calderon, and Linda Rondstadt/Stone Poneys guitarist Kenny Edwards.

"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
UFO's lost love's, love on the road, who cares! What a song. My all time fav track by them...
"this west bound moon's only rise and fall"
beautiful song, his one chance at love and lost her. This song is so easy to relate to
This is from their Lights Out album, one of my all time favourite albums and dreadfully under-rated. I always loved this song. M. Schenker was in the first Scorpions line-up, IIRC they supported UFO on some gigs and they poached him. He went back for a short time after Mogg & he had a bust up, then went on to form MSG.
ufos lost love of their favorite soda
shmazian... shouldn't that be schmuck-ian ? This baby's just too young to remember the arena rockin' jam of UFO. Probably too shallow to get it in any generation. Schmuck-ians loss.
It means the movie SPUN. Billy Corgan does a cover of it towards the end of the film... one of the most beautiful songs I"ve ever heard.
I was just listening to the Spun-version and i also think it's amazing! I keep wondering who the female voice is though, i recognise billy's in an instance.
Amen bloodandsoil.I put it on a mix cd for a girl I liked once.Funny thing she was really young, and a black girl and she said she LOVED IT!!!!It's such a fantastic song, how can you not?UFO are a tremendously under rated band.Only true rock fans know about them. Two great facts;guitarist Michael Schencker is also the brother of Rudolph Schencker of The Scorpions(whom he later joined if my facts are correct) and bassist Pete Way is Steve Harris'(Iron Maiden) biggest influence.Hearing those two facts alone were enough to convince me to buy their Greatest Hits on cd and damn am I glad I did. This is my favorite song by them by the way.
One of UFO's greatest songs ever about lost love. Very tragic!!
For me what makes this song great are the instrumental passages. I mean when have you heard such uplifting and introspective hard rock that makes you want to face life head-on and re-evalutate all your problems with a clear mind?
