Self pity me so pitiful
You can see that birds and worms don't get along

Self righteous me so wrong
You can see that we don't have to get along

Self pity me so pitiful
You can see that birds and worms do not agree

And we will crawl

It seems to me that this song is about how people don't get along. But just because you don't get along doesn't mean you have to hate and resent the person. You don't have to get along... but that doesn't mean you have to have all this hatred inside you.

Whenever I am in a low mood or depressed, this song atarts to play in my head. I think it is my body trying to cheer me up, and it usually works. (btw, i used this song in a film about a friend's car accident. We showed pictures of the wrecked car while playing this song. It looked really cool, since we made it all grainy and had shaddows flitting everywhere. But the song really made it work.)

This song is so simple, but I love it. This is the Modest Mouse song that gets stuck in my head the most.

I love the tune of this song, its so upbeat for such a dark message. It reminds me of a vacuum cleaner for some reason, i dont know why. Thats jsut the first thing that comes to mind when i hear this song.

Blank Space
Taylor Swift
This song is Swift's response to the negative reputation the media has given her. "I can make the bad guys good for a weekend" - the bad guys are the paparazzi to Swift, but are good to the "player" since association with Swift immediately gives publicity. Any publicity is good publicity and Swift knows this. "You can tell me when it's over" - the tabloids rumor relationships are over before the couple announces it officially. With this song Swift is portraying the way she is portrayed by the media. It is a sarcastic jab at how she views herself and how her "ex-lovers" only wanted to be with her to increase their fame. I applaud the brilliance in writing about how you always write about relationships. It is expected so Swift is giving the media what they want and profiting off the attention.
