De Anza Jig Lyrics

Oh I can still remember Jenny Hernando.
She was my little lovely one when I was seventen.
I remember the day that she gave me her virginity,
and then she gave it ti everyone in our vicinity.

Oh I can still remember Julie Tolentino,
the dancing filipino. We used to run around.
Her and Flouncin' Freddy were going hot and steady.
Now she rund a dyke bar, the biggest one in town.

I can still remember my old friend Todd Squelati.
I watched him snort a milkshake right up his nose.
He slurped it up the left side, blew it out the right side.
How he ever kept it down, I will never know.

Of course I still remember ol' Flouncin' Freddy.
We were pumping gas down at El Sobrante Shell
His mustang was his pride and joy, he liked to dance the cowboy.
Hanging out at Jack in the Box, but eat at Taco Bell.

Les recalling old memories of friends and ladies. I'm pretty sure that Jenny Hernando is the "beauty queen" he's talking about in The Brown Album's Hat's Off. Seems logical.

I love the way he constructed this song.

Les's high school was called De Anza.

Les remembering high school (duh)

Jenny is probably the beauty queen in "Hats off" and the girl behind the glass in "Glass sandwich" (read my comment there to find out why i say that)

the other people were just his friends that did something notable enough for les to remeber them for this long.

he snoted a milk shake right up his nose....wow....high five todd.

Pretty sure the names have been changed to protect the innocent and exaggeration is abundant. Les getting nostalgic in more ways than one.

Flouncin Fred has been in a couple of Primus videos. They allways have friends in their vids to keep the costs down.

Maybe it's about being remembered after you're gone, or about creating a legacy; you can kind of choose how you'll be remembered depending on what you do: good, bad or just crazy.

Each verse is about remembering someone for some reason, so that's what I think the metaphor is, the literal meaning is kinda obvious, like 'The Air is Getting Slippery' it just ties together different characters mentioned in Primus songs.

The 3rd verse always cracks me up.

Personally, I always connected this song to The Air is Getting Slippery. In that song, he references a friend from high school, a drug dealer. This is more remembrance of the days in that same high school.

Got this album last Christmas, played it to death.
