Welcome To This World Lyrics
Oh, welcome to this world of fools,
of pink champagne and swimming pools.
Well, all you have to lose is you virginity.
Perhaps we'll have some fun tonight,
so stick around and take a bite of life.
We don't need feebleness in this proximity.
Ask good MacDuff and Donalbain,
so many good ideas are slain
by those who would not dare step out of line.
But if I have my way tonught,
and chances are I think I might--
I'll turn those sour minds to grapes of wine (grapes of wine).
Welcome to this world.
Don't judge the boy by what you hear.
The words are heard beyond the ear.
The heart and mind are focus for this conversation.
But be abound in mystery,
for that so much you do to me.
For there are those who drawn in adulation (adulation).
Welcome to this world.
If I had a dime for each time that I had heard them preach,
well I'd have wicked thoughts upon my brain.
of pink champagne and swimming pools.
Well, all you have to lose is you virginity.

I don't think this one is about drugs. MacDuff and Donalbain are characters in MacBeth. Donalbain is the Prince of Scotland and flees after the King is killed. And MacDuff is a nobleman of Scotland. I think it's about people not doing things they should or afraid of ideas they have because they may not be politically correct.
I agree with Natasho above. Good catch on the MacBeth references. I also think this song doenst really refer to things that people "Should" do, but things people are afraid to do in General. Don't be afraid to try some things, we don't need feebleness in this proximity.
Les is not human. He comes from the planet Kicapoo. He came to earth, disguised as a primate or homosapien, simply, to make music. And he has been making music ever since.
It's another one of Claypool's spins on anti-conformity, and the absurdity of those who do (and supossedly 'why').
One of my favourite Primus tunes, for sure.
I swear I hear him say creativity instead virginity.
Alright, well I agree with kmk natasha with the whole Macduff and Donalbain thing, and the anti-conformist stuff. But I reckon it's all being applied to society, like with "pink champagne and swimming pools" - creates that idealistic American teenage party; "all you have to lose is your virginity": the norm, and the way to fit in...If ya get what I mean hehe.
My first ever comment on Songmeanings.net, go easy on me, I suck at pragmatics, just wanted to comment such an ace song.
i agree more with iconofsin but the macbeth thing is also correct...but also a religous twist in the last line "If I had a dime for each time that I had heard them preach, well I'd have wicked thoughts upon my brain." meaning that he wants to go out and have fun but he knows its a sin... but this is one of those primus songs that pretty much let you know if your a primus fan or not...either you like it or hate
i interpreted the lyircs "welcome to this world of fools and picture paintings and swimming pools but all you have to lose is your virginity" as the song being about the porn indistry
This song I think is about drugs.
