Greet The Sacred Cow Lyrics

Slice me up a big slab
of that sympathetic cheer.
If i'm zapped with radiation,
they say i'll last another year.

Line 'em up now
to greet the sacred cow.

My hands are full of protein,
my arms are made of fire.
If you're calling me a diplomat,
I'll be calling you a liar.

Line 'em up now
to greet the sacred cow.

Line 'em up now
to kill the sacred cow.

Weird song...

Starts with what sounds like a recording of a tour in the middle east, showing some old schools, you hear the sound of the call to prayer that muslims do 5 times a day. Then the tour guide saying to a little boy, hello back to his greeting, because it's a tradition to greet like that, the tour guy says, he is a real religious little shit ! Great stuff !

Greet the sacred cow then kill it....hmmm...

First lines talk about false sympathy for someone. Other lines are hands full of protein, like strength maybe...arms like fire...all consuming and powerful, destroying...then a denial that this person is diplomatic.

So probably about iraq, the americans being like a sacred cow to the arabs, it's a false reverence towards the americans helping them, not really deserved but unquestionable. So the line kill the sacred cow is the image of america being saviors, without question. So the message here is to think for yourself I believe.

I had this CD in the car, and the beginning of the song came on, and my Wife immediately said "wow, that's weird". She was stationed in Iraq when she was in the air force and the sounds at the beginning of the song are the prayers that they blast over loudspeakers over in the middle east at various times throughout the day.

Still confused about the second verse in this song: "hands are full of protein, arms are made of fire" and the diplomat part. Also, not sure about the "line em up now" in the chorus. Interesting song though.

@LordVerminaard It's a spoof of religion. And how once he sacrifices that sacred cow, on the grill, everyone is there to eat it, ie, hypocrisy and/or non-believers in the first place!

the indians (in india) think the cow is sacred so lines like " Line 'em up now to greet the sacred cow." may have something to do with the masses of people dying slow deaths due to cancer from eating too much red meat (beef?) "If i'm zapped with radiation, they say i'll last another year." has to do with kemo and radio therapy to treat cancer? i dunno, love primus, antipop is for sure their most listenable album and the one with the fattest bass licks from claypool.

I think its about western culture taking over others. In India most religions believe in reincarnation, so the delaying of death by cancer using kemo could be seen as a bad thing in thier culture. I think the chorus is about fast food expanding and taking over those countries. I can't really hear what is being said at the start, but I think its an american tourist. I think this song is about ideas being introduced to countries that don't need or maybe were better off without them
