Superhero Lyrics

Mother may I lay my head down,
what would you say,
If all that's lost may never be found,
it's gone away,
Never thought it would be me
held so high, fell so far
Mother may I lay my head down,
my falling star.

Superhero won't you come and take me away,
Superhero won't you come save my day?

And if I ever could have faked it, oh it would show
And if I ever could have made it, would I be gold?

I never wanted to be what they even wanted me to be,
now this story ends untainted, without me....

Superhero won't you come and take me away,
Superhero won't you come and fly me away?
Superhero, superhero, superhero won't you come,
save my day...

Won't you, won't you, won't you take me home?
Won't you, won't you, won't you take me home?
Won't you come and take me?
Won't you come rescue me?
Won't you come and take me?
Hero, hero, hero

Won't you take me home,
Superhero won't you come and take me away,
Superhero won't you come and fly me away?
Superhero, superhero, oh my hero, oh my hero
Superhero won't you come save my...

Mother may I lay my head down,
what would you say,
If all that's lost may never be found,
it's gone away,
Never thought it would be me
held so high, fell so far
Mother may I lay my head down...

actually, i really like this song. and i kinda disagree (to the other comments, sorry to say)... i think it's about just simply getting away from the world, faking who she was and didn't show her true self with "And if I ever could have faked it" and "I never wanted to be what they even wanted me to be" to support it. so yea, simply getting away. :)

To me this song is about the not so sucessfull carrer of Vanessa. She is a so aweasome artist and she never had the recognition that she deserve.

"And if I ever could have faked it, oh it would show" I think that the labels always try to make her a typical pop star, that sings only to pleasure the biggest public, but she knows that she would never could do that, or wanted do it.

"And if I ever could have made it, would I be gold?" She is thinking on teh possibilyty of being the ordinary pop star, and if she have do that on teh start, she would be a big star with gold records and stuffs..

And she is kind off telling to shes Mom, asking confort, that she will never be a big star.

"i'm a falling star"

i dont understand it...

i really think she was sexually abused.. i think this song is about her losing her innocence.. more so someone stealing it from her "Mother may I lay my dead down, what would you say, If all that's lost may never be found, it's gone away, Never thought it would be me" shes crying to her mother for help basically her innocence was lost by someone she trusted very much.. and she wants to tell her mom but shes scared.

"Won't you take me home, Superhero won't you come and take me away, Superhero won't you come and fly me away? Superhero, superhero, oh my hero, oh my hero Superhero won't you come save my..." basically she wants to be taken away from this place or saved by someone..

I refuse to believe that this song is about rape or sexual abuse.

I personally love this song, because I can relate to it, often. I think what she's trying to convey is that she made a mistake (possibly in a relationship?) and she got hurt emotionally in the process. Then, she's miserable, and just wishes her 'superhero' would come and take her away from all her problems.

One of my favorite 'sad' songs. :)

I think it's a song that Vanessa wrote while she was in ballet school..sort of giving reasons why she dropped out of Ballet school? She was faking who she was and had to get away, like doedoe181 said :)

"Never thought it would be me held so high, fell so far...I'm a falling star" - she had dreams and was good at Ballet, now she's done something wrong/different that's caused her dreams to be crushed..

"I never wanted to be what they even wanted me to be, now this story ends untainted, without me...." - she left Ballet school b/c of something did, she won't be included in their story

She's calling out for some help from her Superhero..
