September Lyrics
Do you remember the 21st night of September?
Love was changing the mind of pretenders
While chasing the clouds away
Our hearts were ringing
In the key that our souls were singing.
As we danced in the night,
Remember - how the stars stole the night away, yeah yeah yeah.
Hey hey hey,
Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in September
Ba de ya - never was a cloudy day
Ba duda, ba duda, ba duda, badu
Ba duda, badu, ba duda, badu
Ba duda, badu, ba duda
My thoughts are with you
Holding hands with your heart to see you
Only blue talk and love,
Remember - how we knew love was here to stay
Now December found the love that we shared in September.
Only blue talk and love,
Remember - the true love we share today
Hey hey hey
Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in September
Ba de ya - never was a cloudy day
And we say
Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in September
Ba de ya - golden dreams were shiny days
Those bells were ringing, uh uh
Our souls were singing.
Do you remember every cloudy day - yau!
And we say
Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in September
Ba de ya - never was a cloudy day
And we say
Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in September
Ba de ya - golden dreams were shiny days
Ba de ya de ya de ya
Ba de ya de ya de ya
Ba de ya de ya de ya - De ya... X2
if i can put a different spin on this... if you take it from a "love lost" perspective, it's almost a bittersweet memory of being in love, since all the lyrics are in a past tense, it sort of implies that the relationship has ended.
the chord progression and the melodies seem quite bittersweet, angsty, i miss you type. especially the high pitched parts, almost wailing out for a lost lover.
dunno. just a thought...

I've always loved their name and their has always been great. But do you realize there was like a whole population up on stage? Like "Yes",or Emerson,Wakeman,Howell or Emerson,Lake&Palmer. Like 30 dudes on one stage!
this song just makes you feel happy..it really cheesy...but its great
I never would have thought of the lyrics as Ba de ya.... huh..... this really does just put a great big grin on your face doesn't it? :D
I just came here to see if the "Ba de ya de ya de ya" part of this song was really "Party art-y art-y on!" I guess it's not...but i'm gonna keep singing it that way anyhow. It's a great party song, I think.
this reminds me of this girl.... her b day is in september and they say "december found the love that we shared in september." My b day is in december.... and the 21st. Its just funny the coincidence
@AeroRose42 My birthday is in September, my husband's Birthday is in December, and we had our son September 21st! so, I thought that was kind of neat!

Great song, just a lot of fun. Always puts me in a good mood. As far as the meaning..I dunno. Probably the story of a relationship becoming stronger over time, maybe they're getting married in December looking back on some memory in September? Who knows, but it's fun nonetheless. I liked how this song was featured in the movie "Babel" in a Japanese night club. ~Luke
I have always liked this song for the party aspect. Just recently, a contestant on American Idol, Colton Dixon, sang it and the lyrics really resonated with me. Maybe because he really slowed it down. I have had this song on repeat for three days. This may sound crazy but this song completely describes the time period when I gave my life to the Lord. September 30th (close to the 21st), I had an emotional breakdown. In October, I gave my life to the Lord. In December, I was baptized. Even though this was the toughest time emotionally for me in my life, it was the most beautiful because I fell in love with Jesus and I realized that He loved me through it. I feel him speaking to me through this song<3
I thought it was saying "on and on, you said that you'd remember," but oh, well. It still makes me grin stupidly and sing along.
so.... they're not singing about oreos in the chorus?
