Driving through the deserts and savannas of Kenya in a Landrover in 1977.
Following the road-signs out of urban striation until there were no more -- rolling for hours on corrugated dirt tracks, dust blowing outside the windshield. The horizon: ancient mountain ranges, acacia scrub, hot wind and volcanic outcrops with sudden appearance of bare-breasted tribal women and herdsmen carrying spears next to their camels and goats.
