The Last Song Lyrics
This may be the last thing
That I write for long
Can you hear me smiling
When I sing this song
For you, and only you?
As I leave, will you be someone
To say goodbye?
As I leave, will you be someone
To wipe your eye?
My foot is out the door
And you can't stop me now
You wanted the best
It wasn't me
Will you give it back?
Now I'll take the lead
When there's no more room
To make it grow
I'll see you again
You'll pretend you're naive
Is this what you want?
Is this what you need?
How you end up, let me know
As I go, remember
All the simple things you know
My mind is just a crutch
And I still hope
That you will miss me when I'm gone
This is the last song
The hearts start breaking
As the year is gone
The dream's beginning
And the time rolls on
It seems so surreal
Now I sing it
Somehow I knew
That it would be this way
Somehow I knew
That it would slowly fade
Now I am gone
Just try and stop me now
You wanted the best
It wasn't me
Will you give it back?
Now I'll take the lead
When there's no more room
To make it grow
I'll see you again
You'll pretend you're naive
Is this what you want?
Is this what you need?
How you end up, let me know
As I go, remember
All the simple things you know
My mind is just a crutch
And I still hope
That you will miss me when I'm gone
This is the last song
Will you need me now?
You'll find a way somehow
You want it, too
I want it, too
As I go, remember
All the simple things you know
My mind is just a crutch
And I still hope
That you will miss me when I'm gone

It's about a girl not really caring about you anymore, and that you love her so much and hope that one day she'll return when she realizes how much you meant to her...

I think it's about a girl that he cares about ... but she doesn't want him because she wants "the best" and doesn't think it's him. And he's going to leave because he knows she doesn't want him and he still wonders if she'll miss him at all. This is my favorite song by them ... I think it has a great beat and good lyrics.

This should be the right version. I'm not exactly sure of every line. Mostly if he says "lead" or "leave". But I think it's lead...
Anyway, this is an AMAZING song and I love these guys. Can't wait for their full CD.
this is about breaking up? and i think its leave because its a break up song?
matt is a loser
Was this song written for me? Sheesh...to me it seems like the song is written about someone that doesn't feel appreciated in their relationship, so they finally get the courage & confidence to leave. Even though they feel empowered, they can't help but hope that their significant other will miss them & cry after they're gone. Perhaps the person wishes for their significant other to have some regrets about the way they treated them & want them back in the future; for them to realize the error of their ways....Or maybe I'm just applying my own situation to the song a tad bit too literally. lol Anywho, that's just my two cents...you can take it or leave it. ~Paige~
