One day, it will happen
One day, one day
It will all come true.
One day, when you're ready
One day, one day
When you're up to it.
The atmosphere
Will get lighter
And two suns ready
To shine just for you
I can feel it, I can feel it.
One day, it will happen
One day, one day
It will all make sense.
One day, one day
You will blossom
One day, one day
When you're ready.
An aeroplane
Will curve gracefully
Around the volcano
With the eruption that never lets you down.
I can feel it, I can feel it
And the beautifullest
Fireworks are burning
In the sky just for you
I can feel it, I can feel it
One day, one day, one day, one day
One day, one day, one day, one day
One day, one day
It will all come true.
One day, one day
When you're up to it.
Will get lighter
And two suns ready
To shine just for you
I can feel it, I can feel it.
One day, one day
It will all make sense.
You will blossom
One day, one day
When you're ready.
Will curve gracefully
Around the volcano
With the eruption that never lets you down.
Fireworks are burning
In the sky just for you
One day, one day, one day, one day

I think this song is her saying to someone: "Don't worry, one day it will happen, and it'll be worth the wait." To me, it's about finding your true love: "One day it will happen...when you're ready", and it'll be better than ever: "Two suns ready to shine just for you."
I always wondered if it was about losing your virginity as in the line 'an aeroplane will curve gracefully around the volcano with the eruption that never lets you down' - surely some metaphors there?!
I agree with Missme.
To me this song is all about waiting for the "One". They say it happens when you least expect it, when you're confident, your happy and not actively looking.
For me it's a beautiful song about hope.
"Your time" will come and it will be amazing.
I believe this song is about two eggs colliding making a child in Bjork's etheral mind. It's really a romantic way to believe that that is how we are all born. It's better than thinking a stork dropped you off in front of someone's door!!
To me, this is a song dedicated to an unborn child that hasn't even been procreated yet. She's singing it to a being that, one day, will "blossom", once the soul/Life energy/call-it-whatever-you-want is ready. The two suns symbolize the parents. The aeroplane could be seen as something that "delivers" the baby (like the stork is said to do in some cultures), the volcano could be the earth/this world, and the eruption life/passion/love itself.
That child will be something very special, she (Björk) can feel it.
Our interpretations are relative based on our lives...
Mine has to do with how I feel about my overwhelmed, depressed, anxious teenage daughter. "One day, when you're ready... " I actually wrote the lyrics on my daughter's bathroom mirror for her to read whe she's in there. I signed it "Love, Mom & Björk"
She's left it on there for over a year. It must mean something to her.
I'd like to think this song is about someone in a pupa/cacoon stage in life. They're afraid, but still growing. And one day when they're ready they can blossom/ love themselves more than ever. I feel like it's aboot her son though. Didn't her son pass? The beginning sounds like a babbling toddler. Perhaps she's saying he'll be reborn one day when he's ready.
