A Song For The Deaf (Live) Lyrics

Living underground
Ear against track
Cannot trace the sound
Nerve up to my neck

Kill
Killin time
Rock
Right on the vine
Pray
Prayin head
Love
Works in name

Not love
Not for gray someones love

Ready now

Oh, my best words cheat
Cant have the words from your mouth
Cant have the words that hold us together
Cause theyre fallin all around

Jump down in
Jump down in
Try to chatter it
Nerves to the strip

Not love
If not for gray someones left
If not love
If not for gray someones left

Love again

Like to take a walk
Lie beside the ditch
This halo round my neck
Strum out every stitch

Kill
Killin time
Right
Right on vine
Pray
Prayin head
Love
Put some back

Not love
If not for gray someones love
If not love
If not for gray someones love

Killin again

I've heard segments of this song in a remix of the original Song for the Deaf. Is this on their Over The Years And Through The Woods album?

Suprising as it may be, It's off an album called "Songs For The Deaf"

These lyrics are wrong XD

Here are the correct ones.

A Song for the dead, that is for you... Nobody's coming down the hall Nobody echoes in my head Broken reflection, out of luck Nobody ever leaving

I got what was I want to take whats left... (for the deaf)

Beautiful senses a girl can marry in a gilded cage singing... (screaming) Sweet soft love now it poisons it all come closer racing to your tone

Great to see these lyrics here! This is the pre-album version with Mark Lanegan doing lead vocals. Looks like a few differences from the version I've been listening to.

"Nerves up to my neck" -> "In earth up to my neck" "Rock, right on the vine" -> "Rot right on the vine" "Not for grey someone's love" -> "Not for the grace of what's left" "Love again" -> "For the deaf" (like the album version)

This song sounds like it's in a prison or in a wasteland or something. Killin' time might be a reference to midnight in a prison which is the time that they execute people. It also seems like a love song. Maybe someone special died and this is the aftermath.
