Anno Mundi (The Vision) Lyrics
Spirito sanctus anno anno mundi
Spirito sanctus anno anno mundi
Spirito sanctus anno anno mundi
(Spirito sanctus anno anno mundi)
Can ya see me? Are ya near me? Can ya hear me cryin' out for life?
Can ya tell me, where's the glory? Ride the days and sail the nights.
(Spirito sanctus anno anno mundi)
When it's over, find the answer running in the whispering rain.
(Spirito sanctus anno anno mundi)
Anno mundi can ya wonder truth or thunder, life or blame?
Do ya see a vision of a perfect place?
Does it make you laugh, put a smile on your face?
Do you need a mirror? Do you see it well?
Does the hand of God still toll the bell?
There are people laughin'. They're all laughin' at you.
If only they could see what you're sayin' was true. Ooh yeah
Still gen'rals fighting, making war on the world
Don't they know, don't they know no no no-oh.
As the winds of the night blows cold
Your eyes are burnin'
And the sands of our time grow old.
Anno mundi yea
Do you follow the path that so many tread?
Are you among the blind, so easily lead?
Do you join in the war?
Do you fight for the cause?
Depend on another to fight it alone?
As the winds of the night blows cold
Your eyes are burnin'
And the sands of our time grow old.
No no no.
Spirito sanctus anno anno mundi
Spirito sanctus anno anno mundi
Can ya see me now?
(Spirito sanctus anno anno mundi)
Oh.
Can ya hear me now?
(Spirito sanctus anno anno mundi)
Oh.
(Spirito sanctus anno anno mundi)
Can ya tell me where's the glory? Ride the days and sail the nights.
(Spirito sanctus anno anno mundi)
When it's over find the answer running in the rain
truth or thunder, life or blame.
There's a hope that's growin' and a vision too
All those angry hearts now reach out for you.
Do you look to the dawn?
See a new day begun.
No longer the fool the vision is done.
As the winds of the night blow cold
Your eyes are burnin'
And the sands of our time grow old.
Your eyes are burnin'
And the winds of the night blow cold
Your eyes are burnin'
And the sands of our time grow old.
Your eyes are burnin'

Yeah, it's a great song. I think Tony Martin has explained fully the meaning of this song, but I can't remember.
This might be Sabbath's best song ever, along with 1973's "Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath."
@prezuiwf An great epic song, alright. For punch, I'd say "I" is better. Country Girl, Falling of the Edge of the World and For lyrics, there are many songs that trumph it: listen to most of the songs on Sabotage.

I have always felt that this song wants people to wake up and make their own decisions. Of course TYR is pretty much about the vikings and the Gods they chose to follow. In the Sabbath Stones martin more or less destroys the old norse faith and promotes christianity, (maybe with an ironic touch, who knows). Great conceptual album, really makes you think.
