I Am I Lyrics
Beating with life you promised life,
security, happiness.
Unfortunate son cornered,
cowering in the pit of
circling panes of glass that
surround and reveal the ever present "It".
"It" is my move, my every look,
interpreting gestures,
informing other
what's undercover and
lurking beneath my mask
of this year's featured model.
Is this too much?
Close your eyes.
Care to look inside? I am I!
What may appear
might easily be explained,
but given the situation
of info saturation,
what you feel can never go away.
Steering perception? I am!
Inviting contradiction? I am!
It's my insistence
you keep your distance
from the glare behind my stare.
So this is the way
the game is played.
You can leave now...
but I think you'll stay. I am I!

One of the few good post-Empire songs.
THIS SNG IS NOT FROM EMPIRE ITS FROM PROMISSED LAND AND IT MEANS HE IS WHO HE IS!!
Nobody said this was from Empire. That guy said post-Empire.

The last part of the song sounds like a warped interpretation of how God views us. One of God's names in the Bible is "I Am" -but- totally inaccurate view of how he sees us.
Someone who THINKS they are God may be this way...
Clearly, this guy is full of himself and thinks everyone wants, needs, to know more about him.
Maybe it's everyone's vanity side.
the arrogant omnipresence of modernism and how we are all slaves to it- my and strictly my opinion- this is the underlying theme of the entire promised land album
@babin3in Although I am french and french is my native language, I think so and overall, that this song is a warning about the trap of narcissism, especially with the social networks.

Geoff Tate said that this song describes the band. How there is no other band quite like Queensrÿche. They are themselves and not anything else. They are stating their individuality. The first verse does seem like a bunch of random crap thrown together to make lyrics I must confess.
