I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
ask me where
ask me how
ask me where im headed now
no words i know can explain
the thoughts you've put inside my brain
somethings wrong
is nothing right
there are no good things in your sight
i take you out
im happy to
but nothings good enough for you
i thought i'd found the one for me
but feelings change so i see
i thought i'd found someone so great
but you were just one more mistake
no matter what you didnt care
i needed someone to be there
a companion and a freind
someone to be there in the end
i try so hard to be so sweet
maybe one day i will meet
the one for me, one that cares
more for me than for her hair
ask me how
ask me where im headed now
no words i know can explain
the thoughts you've put inside my brain
somethings wrong
is nothing right
there are no good things in your sight
i take you out
im happy to
but nothings good enough for you
i thought i'd found the one for me
but feelings change so i see
i thought i'd found someone so great
but you were just one more mistake
no matter what you didnt care
i needed someone to be there
a companion and a freind
someone to be there in the end
i try so hard to be so sweet
maybe one day i will meet
the one for me, one that cares
more for me than for her hair
