Bill Bailey, Won't You Please Come Home? Lyrics

Won't you come home, Bill Bailey, won't you come home
I've moaned the whole night long
I'll do the cookin', honey, I'll pay the rent
I know I done you wrong

You remember that rainy evenin'
I threw you out....with nothin' but a fine tooth comb
Ya, I know I'm to blame, now... ain't it a shame
Bill Bailey, won't you please come home

(instrumental break)

Won't you come home, Bill Bailey, won't you come on home
I've moaned that whole day long
I'll do all the cookin' honey, I'll even pay the rent
I know, that I have done you, oh so, wrong

You remember that rainy evenin'
I throwed you out, with nothin but a fine tooth comb
I know I'm to blame, now... ain't it a shame
So baby, won't you please come

I said now, won't you please come

Bill Bailey, won't you please.... come on home

Cover art for Bill Bailey, Won't You Please Come Home? lyrics by Louis Armstrong

This song is about a guy named Bill Bailey who won't come home, his woman is so hard up for sex that she promises to do the cookin' and even pay the rent, rumor has it that Bill Bailey was pretty good in bed

Oh, I get it now...Brad "tingle." It's no wonder you wrote what you did :D

Sorry, but her moaning had nothing to do with sex. There's moaning all day due to missing her man who keeps her company. She tossed him out on his arse and says she knows she done did him wrong. I am quite sure you're aware how old this song is and that at the time it was written sex was a rather taboo subject when it came to speaking about it in public. I used to sing this all the time as a child, although 'singing' does not adequately describe what comes out of my mouth:)
