We don't even talk anymore
And we don't even know what we argue about
Don't even say I love you no more
'Cause saying how we feel is no longer allowed

Some people work things out
And some just don't know how to change

Let's don't wait 'til the water runs dry
We might watch our whole lives pass us by
Let's don't wait 'til the water runs dry
We'll make the biggest mistake of our lives
Don't do it, baby (ooh)

Now, no, now they can see the tears in our eyes, yeah
But we deny the pain that lies
Deep in our hearts
Well maybe that's a pain we can't hide
'Cause everybody knows that we're both torn apart

Why do we hurt each other?
Why do we push love away?

Let's don't wait 'til the water runs dry (no, no, baby)
We might watch our whole lives pass us by (we might watch our whole lives, yeah)
Let's don'tt wait 'til the water runs dry
We'll make the biggest mistake of our lives
Don't do it, baby, ooh

Some people will work things out
And some just don't know how to change

Let's don't wait 'til the water runs dry (no, no)
We might watch our whole lives pass us by (oh, pass us by)
Let's don't wait 'til the water runs dry
We'll make the biggest mistake of our lives
Don't do it, baby, ooh

Don't do it, baby
Don't do it, baby

Acutally, looking at it, it feels like it could go both ways: To hold on because love still remains; to let go because there is nothing there.

"Not letting their lives pass them by" or waiting until "water runs dry" could mean trying to make the relationship work before it gets to a point where things are irreconcilable... or it could mean, as rad said, letting go now because by the time the 'water runs dry', they will have come to the same conclusion: that they should not be together.

Warren wanted a Beach Boys thing for this one, and Carl Wilson and Billy Hinsche came in, with Carl arranging the vocal parts. The other harmony vocalists (credited as the "Gentlemen Boys") were Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, Zevon's longtime backers Waddy Wachtel and Jorge Calderon, and Linda Rondstadt/Stone Poneys guitarist Kenny Edwards.

He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.
