Time is gonna take my mind
And carry it far away where I can fly
The depth of life will dim my temptation to live for you
If, if I were to be alone silence would rock my tears
'Cause it's all about love and I know better
How life is a waving feather

So I put my arms around you, around you
And I know that I'll be living soon

My eyes are on you, they're on you
And you see that I can't stop shaking
No, I won't step back but I'll look down to hide from your eyes
'Cause what I feel is so sweet and I'm scared that even my own breath
Oh, could burst it if it were a bubble
And I'd better dream if I have to struggle

So I put my arms around you, around you
And I hope that I will do no wrong
My eyes are on you, they're on you
And I hope that you won't hurt me

I'm dancing in the room as if I was in the woods with you
No need for anything but music
Music's the reason why I know time still exists
Time still exists
Time still exists
Time still exists

So I just put my arms around you, around you
And I hope that I will do no wrong
My eyes are on you they're on you
And I hope that you won't hurt me
My arms around you, they're around you
And I hope that I will do no wrong
My eyes are on you
They're on you
They're on you
My eyes

This is actually the first song that's moved me enough to comment here.

I think it's about leaving the person you love ("And I know that I'll be leaving soon") and the instability of life ("Life is a waving feather") and the idea that life is always changing.

She's dancing with the boy she loves and I think it's just an intense moment because they both know that she's leaving. And she's scared of the confrontation on the subject, hence "I look down to hide from your eyes cause what I feel is so sweet and I'm scared"... she doesn't want anything to ruin the moment.

I think the line "Music's the reason why I know time still exists" is really important because it shows how time has stopped for the two of them, just dancing. That if it weren't for the music -- something to which they can keep time, keep track of how long they've been dancing -- they wouldn't realize the time that's passed because they are frozen in that moment, it's like the world has stopped for them.

Along with the intensity of emotion between them, I think a big part of the song is that she's scared a long distance relationship won't work, because she's leaving. The lines "I hope that I will do no wrong," and "I hope that you won't hurt me," kind of show her hope that, for lack of a better term, neither of them will cheat on the other. But it's somewhat of a sad song, because we know in the beginning that she has her doubts: "The depth of life will dim the tempation to live for you," which is an excellent, excellent line, but sad.

I think that's also part of the reason she repeats "Time still exists"... It goes with the line about "the depth of life" and shows that, yes, she loves him, but life will go on after him, her life will change. The world doesn't stop because she loves someone and her life is going to push her against those limits that their love forms.

    Those are my thoughts!

I found this song because dancing is my life...and i was really dying to see this movie... "A Time for Dancing"..wich never came out.. and Shane West is in it...I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY... anyway...it's so powerfull...at the begining I didn't pay attention to the lyrics but I cry everytime it gets to the part after time stills exists... i get chills all over my body...

"what I feel is so sweet....my eyes are on YOU... I hope that I will do no wrong... and i hope that you won't hurt me..."

Scared to fall in love? i'm feeling it right now... and i feel it just the way she sings it.... dancing is the reason i know i still exist...no need for anything but you... don't hurt me...

to alreadytorn: "A Time for Dancing" did come out! I received it for Christmas. It is a good movie, with some awesome dancing in it. (A lot of lyrical and modern, lesser ballet) I love the soundtrack and searched for some of the songs, and this one came up. It's such a beautiful song.

I just heard this song tonight when I saw a very powerful contemporary dance coreographed by Mia Michaels on So You Think You Can Dance. It was preformed amazingly well, and I think it related to the song well.

    The inner struggle of love.

    such an amazing song.

i feel lmae for having heard this on SYTYCD, but it is amazing, espeically the "i put my arms around you" simply because of the way her voice sounds.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
