Poison Lyrics
i don't think this song is about AIDS... it's simply about love that is not possible, or forbidden, or he just thinks that being romantically related to this person would eventually hurt him. that's all. "I hear you calling and it's needles and pins (And pins) I want to hurt you just to hear you screaming my name" "My pain, your thrill" maybe it has something to do with s&m?
I think this song is about being wanting desperately to be with someone who always ends up hurting you. its dangerous. or mabe hes saying that who he is singing to makes him an animal or dangerous. :) This is my fav alice cooper song by far i think i would melt if he sang it to me.
"I want to love you but I better not touch" Sounds to me like she's hurting him in some way... Possibly leading him on, cheating on him, or just plain not interested. Either way he seems to be obsessing over her and that's why she's poison to him.
"I don't want to break these chains" Even though she's messing him up, he doesn't want to give up on the thought so he's stuck in a dilemma. Also, this line of the song pretty much nullifies the idea that it could be about drugs or alcohol, because he would definitely want to break the chains
this song is obviously about heroin..let me break down the lyrics for you... here goes!
1.you cruel device= your needle. your blood like ice= how it feels when the heroin is in your veins. one look could kill= metaphor for how strong of a drug it is. my pain your thrill= how the drug loves to see you hurting for more of it.
2.i want to love you but i better not touch= he wants it but it's too addictive. i want to hold you but my senses tell me to stop= once again too addictive. i want to kiss you but i want it too much= the cravings for it is too much. i want to taste you but your lips are venomous posion=too addictive once again. your poison running through my veins= obviously a reference to shooting up. i don't wanna break these chains= he doesn't want to stop even though his addicting is chaining him down.
3.Your mouth, so hot= you start getting hot before you get your fix of dope. Your web, I'm caught= he's strung out and caught up in the drug. Your skin, so wet= talking about how to heroin is wet when it's in the spoon. Black lace, on sweat= black lace is a metaphor for heroin and he's talking about sweating from anticipating his next shot.
4.I hear you calling and it's needles and pins= needles and pins are what you get when you do a shot of dope that is really good. also called "a rush" I want to hurt you just to hear you screaming my name=self explanatory. Don't want to touch you but you're under my skin= dont want it but it's too late to stop because he is already addicted and the needle is under his skin. I want to taste you but your lips are venomous poison= the drug is poision. You're poison, running through my veins= obviously talking about heroin in his veins.
@HanNerd123 I have just posted my commentary when I saw yours and I think you are right. Lucky I know next to nothing about heroine and nasty drugs

Nope! It's not about a woman even though everyone thinks so....he wrote this song when he got out of alcohol rehab....the poison he refers to is alcohol.....do a better research on the artist before you give an answer....
My best guess is its about a girl he likes but shes just toying with him and he doesnt want to leave her or "Break these chains" that she has on him metaphorically but he has to.
It is a perfect description of being infatuated with a malignant narcissist who considers the singer just important enough to enjoy torturing. Feargal Sharky did another excellent treatment of the subject in "You Little Thief". A fine, if lengthy account is to be found here: http://narcissists-suck.blogspot.ie/
I think this song is quite obviously about the temptation of infidelity - being strongly attracted to someone else while already in a committed relationship.
"I don't want to break these chains" Chains = the security of the committed relationship
"One look, could kill" Kill = severely threatening the security of the committed relationship
"My pain, your thrill" Your thrill = the temptress being single and hence having less at stake
The video confirms this theme, with the two different women - the blonde, Madonnaesque woman dressed in white representing the safe haven, and the dark haired, black corset clad lady representing the temptress. It is very explicit towards the end when the blonde woman literally pulls a rope and the narrator as represented by Alice Cooper approaches her, away from the temptress.
I dunno what it means, but everyone HAS to hear this songs, one of the greatest all time songs in my opinion.
