Urrrgh! Why does their sexuality even matter? They are brilliant musicians... whether they are bi, gay or straight or WHATEVER! I've heard that they're both lesbians, I've heard that only one of them is... I've heard that they're bi... WHO GIVES A SHIT! Their sexuality does not change their music, their music still rocks and so do they. I know people who stopped liking them because they heard they're lesbians and I know people who only started liking them because of their supposed sexuality. This just pisses me off, why should you (I mean in general) stop having respect for certain people because of their sexuality or why should people only start to show interest in them because of their sexuality? That's a hairy question! Don't you all agree? Their sexuality is none of our buisness, if they choose to write about in their songs- THEY SHOULD GO FOR IT! I still love them, and their sexuality shouldn't make anyone like them any more or any less.
Ok, so the song. I think it's about one of them (I'm not sure who wrote this song, Sara or Tegan) is very infatuated with someone who is pretty rough around the edges and maybe playing hard to get, and they want a chance for the person to give them a chance? I don't know, it's a good song though. One of my favourites.
i agree w/ frostedlemon about the speaker's infuatuation with somebody who is tough and rough. It's almost as though she wants to make herself worthy of loving her...or prove that she can love her. They're complete opposites. umm, and the "all i need is time. Time to love you" bit is saying that she will somehow win her over...she just needs time to show her she's good enough.

OK, now I know where this is from. cuz I have the new cd! but the lyrics were posted before the cd came out. I went to the store and got it right away. this is probably my fav on the new cd. the new cd is very different.. I like the part in this song about going to jail with only boys and getting out for good behavior. it's a secret message of their gayness! mmmm. I think I'll marry Sara.. and maybe Tegan if Sara isn't interested. or maybe both if I can marry 2.. ----- Rachel

Well, they are gay, so I'm kinda siding with spiChel. Besides, if the person they were writing about was a man, then being locked up with a bunch of them wouldn't be so bad. I mean, one woman in a place filled with lots of able bodied and willing men... sounds good for the straight.
