probably the best "one note" breakdown i love those...also the one from kathleen barbra... what do you think of how zao has all this "techno" stuff in it? i kinda dont like it
I highly enjoy this song. Ilove the breakdown in the song. It sounds like old school Zao and i love old school Zao. I also don't like the new techno adds in some of the other songs.
i like it as well... but, i am somewhat lost as far as the meaning of the lyrics goes... but as a poet myself, i realise that it is very easy and sometimes unintentional and sometimes very intentional to mask the true meaning of something behind words undecipherable... sure, i may be a quitter, but sometimes that IS the right answer...
well, that first part of the song seems to mean he feels like he wants to be alone but somebody wont let him(?) he feels excluded. "walk with the broken peices" must be talking about something that happened that he's a little confused about and is trying to put together. the "fire" and the "flood" must be two different way's he could go and he doesn't know which path to choose. the crimson pools of blood could be someone who died or just a time when he was feeling really depressed.and the candle burning alone must be something guiding them to something else. i don't know, just my opinion
im pretty sure that this song is about a relationship that dan and i had for a while. it was really crappy and full of bad experiences. we were both pretty messed up at the time. there was a time when it was either sink or swim basically (basically the reference is fire/flood) it was hellish and im not FOR SURE if this is what he's talking about but it seems like it to me

This is an awesome song. It is hard, but it has a good messge. The part at the end of the song where it says, "but the candle stands alone, it guids us saftly home" is my fav. part. Jesus is the candle that stands alone, and we are lost at sea when we are sin, and the candle (JESUS) guides us sadtly home.
the wonderful thing about zao songs is you can take them many different ways. dans songs are usual very personal and the thems arent always universal. MY take on this one is the sea is a metaphor for people, the human race. but teh sea is broken... which means we're all here but we're all different. when the narator in the song is marked to be alone when his eyes are closed he is praying. symbolizing he is a christian. i think after we establish that the song has to do with being in the world but not of the world. teh narator is not pulled by flood or peer pressure of burnt by teh fire, any thign else that hinders him. the crimson pool of blood, to me, seems like the metaphor for Jesus's power. the seperate pieces of sea find rest in the hope of Jesus. as he burns alone, he guides us safly home.
lily - you had a relationship with dan? what's this? who are you? i read on the angel w/out wings page that you said zao isn't nearly as christian as we make them out to be... is this true? how do you know this? i'm not trying to be persnickety, i'm intensely curious.
