Untitled #11 Lyrics
Sold a hole to a disaster
Nail the strong winds tight to a door
Know the crimes that stick in thru
Unfastened belts on your heart
And I've never been very smart
But I connect you with your shadow
Nail the strong winds tight to a door
Know the crimes that stick in thru
Unfastened belts on your heart
And I've never been very smart
But I connect you with your shadow

does this song not confusse you a little. it sounds like something happend to john when he was somewhere else and he didnt like it but i dont know if thats what its about?? or mabye hes scared of something
Beautiful song, I don't really understand the meaning of it though, but it is a lovely poem... Maybe something in his past he can't get over or trying to take control of his inner demons?
perfect frusciante, short, sweet, interesting eerie sound and cryptic, concise poetry.
perhaps "i connect you with your shadow" means bringing somebody back down to earth, stopping them from floating away and leaving their shadow on the floor. or it could mean something to do with the imagery of a shadow having a meaning to him, a memory of something.
i think some of the imagery here has something to do with keeping something, a lie or a feeling or anything, locked inside. but its all just speculation because this is one of those songs that maybe even the author didnt quite understand what he was releasing from himself.
John seems to be a follower of Carl Jung's analytical psychology. The "shadow" he speaks of is likely a reference to this Jungian archetype. A shadow includes everything that has been rejected by an individual's persona - for instance, animal instincts or socially unacceptable desires.
