Like I said in my 1st post
At first I really thought that it was just a simple song about how you feel when you mistakingly kill a pet (I know the feeling). It reminds me of the movie Jack. On a personal note, I listened to it after I broke up with my boyfriend and it took on a whole new meaning. The butterfly is obviously a girlfriend. He thinks that the relationship is wonderful until he has a reality check and realizes that by loving his interest he has smothered her. Maybe he did something without thinking of how she would feel because he sees her as a perfect entity and ended up hurting her. Now he feels bad because he didnt do it on purpose. His guilty feelings don't go away quickly because there is always something present to remind him of his mistakes. Then he comes to terms with the fact that this girl is wonderful, however just as fragile as anyone else.

First off, I'm really surprised there's not more comments for this song caz this song is just so beautiful. I think that how it is sang has sumthing about it that just pulls u rite into it. The lyrics are just so gr8. I love at the ending when they sing the part "I'm sorry" with the little girl. It's so cute but it feels so good to ur soul. I think that this song is the most beautiful song out there to ever listen to. This song is truelly Emo. It's just so gr8. I love it to death. I am so happy that David told me about this song. I don't know wut I would do w/o him caz he always knows the kind of songs that I will love so much! I swear if u neva heard this song u betta DL it caz I promise that this song is so good. This song reminds me of my dad and I love my dad so much and he was the most important person in my life. And I have so many good memories of him of when he was alive and his normal self. I'm listening to this rite now, it's just so beauitful. O well, I could go on and on about this song caz it's my fav song rite now. Till then . . .

I'd have to agree with "an_outcast_slug" about the meanings of this song. About a relationship going bad, "killing the butterfly", and then wishing it could be perfect again, "life of chasing butterflies", beautiful...
I have never heard this song byt the lyrics are beautiful! The butterfly mataphor is very pretty, and I love it.
