Had To Fall In Love Lyrics
What mattered to me
Was the right to be free
Like I'll be some day.
I'm waiting for my heart to lead the way.
The places I've seen
And the roads in between
Make me wonder why
I'm searching for my dreams in the sky.
I heard the call
And, in the mirror,
I saw the writing on the wall
And I had to fall
In love with you.
The face that I've known
Seems so lost and alone
When you're far away
I'm comin' for you, baby, right away.
The places I've seen
And the roads in between
Make me wonder why
I'm searching for my dreams in the sky.
I heard the call.
In the mirror
I saw the writing on the wall
And I had to fall
In love with you.
What mattered to me
Was the right to be free
Like I'll be some day.
I'm waiting for my heart to lead the way.
Was the right to be free
Like I'll be some day.
I'm waiting for my heart to lead the way.
The places I've seen
And the roads in between
Make me wonder why
I'm searching for my dreams in the sky.
I heard the call
And, in the mirror,
I saw the writing on the wall
And I had to fall
In love with you.
Seems so lost and alone
When you're far away
I'm comin' for you, baby, right away.
And the roads in between
Make me wonder why
I'm searching for my dreams in the sky.
I heard the call.
In the mirror
I saw the writing on the wall
And I had to fall
In love with you.
Was the right to be free
Like I'll be some day.
I'm waiting for my heart to lead the way.

I think this is a song about being away from home - possibly touring - and missing home life. "Searching for my dreams in the sky" could be searching for his 'musical' dream when what he really wants is waiting at home for him.
A very underrated song. Great acoustic number - even has Ray playing a (rare) harmonica. Everyone else seems to have Driftwood as their favorite song from the Octave album - this one's mine.
Heck yes this is one of my faves, I love the Harmonica and the Voices in this song. Perfection
