Yeah this song kicks ass! might be better than the original version....wouldn't suprise me since Tool already showed Led Zep what is up when they made a cover of No Quarter (which is WAY better than the original)
I'll have to download this, I have to admit I like the original version. The guitar is awesome.
I'm sure Tool does a great job at this. But I don't think they showed Zeppelin up really.
Tool rocks this song. They make it sound like it was meant to be metal. The original is very cool. I really couldn't say which I like better cause they're both very different.
Ok I just got it, and I have to say it's very nice. A bit long, but so is the original. The quality at first seems awful, then when the music starts it's not so bad.
And those lyrics are not right, he changes the words alot.
Tool's No Quarter is in no way better than Led Zeppelin's :)) stop kissing Tool's ass, the instrumental work might be better but Zep's original lyrics kick the shit out of the ones maynard sang, they completely left out the verse about walking side by side with death, which if you listen to Tool's version would have fit perfectly in with the really quiet part, before he sings "Close the Door"
I was disappointed in this. I have alawys considered Stranglehold to be one of the greatest classic rock songs ever, and Tool is my favorite modern band... so I was prepared to be floored by this. It isn't what "No Quarter" is in terms of intensity. In fact, it's more of a jam session than a cover... in that respect it's great, I wish I'd have been there. As far as Maynard changing the lyrics to No Quarter reverand chris, that was the idea bro. It's a reverse perspective from those waiting, not those coming... listen again my friend.
I personally say Tool's version of No Quarter was way better than Zep's. Led Zeppelin are good, but not meant for that kind of thing, its Tool's territory.

How can that be "Tool's territory" when Zeppelin was doing it fucking 20 years before Tool was conceived? Jesus. You can hear zeepelinesque leanings in Tool's music, but you can't hear how Tool influenced zeppelin. figure it out. I love 'em both, but some of you failed abortions need to stop and think a little before you put deformed tentacle to keyboard.
