This time you've dug yourself an anchor
too heavy to move ahead with
Resembling a faker, charming snake oil tankers
Don't let them strike you down

I know that you wish I was dead
I know 'cause you told me last weekend
And Christmas has never felt colder
I've never felt colder

This time you've dug yourself an anchor
too heavy to move ahead with
Resembling a faker, charming snake oil tankers
Don't let them strike you down

I know that you wish I was dead
I know 'cause you told me last weekend
And Christmas has never felt colder
I haven't felt colder since

Not one of my favourites at all, although I like the lines, "I know that you wish I was dead, I know cause you told me last weekend" I think it might be about his girlfriend's friends saying that he's not good enough and she splits up with him, I think the girlfriends' friends are the "charming snake oil tankers" Sounds far fetched but I'm bored so I thought I'd take a guess.

I haven't heard that version, I just have the one off of the Self Titled CD. I can't really figure out what most of the lyrics are about, although they are probably about a bad breakup, like most of the trio's songs, but I can't really make sense of a lot of the words.

maybe i'm being grammar queen but i love the added 'since' on the end of the last line. it changes the feel of the whole song. from the first verse it's like the events just happened, but by the end it's like it happened years ago but the narrator is still bitter and they still can't forget. so simple and yet... amazing

Yeah, he says "Stroke of luke that struck you down" I think "Resembling a faker charming snake oil tankers" means he's like saying the girl acts fake all the time with a charming exterior. I think he also means by the word 'struck' like striking oil and taking her down.

The songs seems to me, to be about a fucked up relationship. You did something wrong, and it came to a not so friendly end. and looking back on it, you kind of wish you hadnt done what you had, and you're a bit lonely
