Green Man Lyrics
Spring won't come, the need of strife
To struggle to be freed from hard ground
The evenings mists thad creep and crawl
Will drench me in dew and so drown
I'm the green man
The green man
Sol in prime sweet summertime
Cast shadows of doubt on my face
A midday sun, its caustic hues
Refracting within the still lake
Autumn in her flaming dress
Of orange, brown, gold fallen leaves
My mistress of the frigid night
I worship, pray to on my knees
Winter's breath of filthy snow
Befrosted paths to the unknown
Have my lips turned true purple?
Life is coming to an end
So says me,me wiccan friend
Nature coming full circle
I'm the green man
The green man
To struggle to be freed from hard ground
The evenings mists thad creep and crawl
Will drench me in dew and so drown
The green man
Cast shadows of doubt on my face
A midday sun, its caustic hues
Refracting within the still lake
Of orange, brown, gold fallen leaves
My mistress of the frigid night
I worship, pray to on my knees
Befrosted paths to the unknown
Have my lips turned true purple?
Life is coming to an end
So says me,me wiccan friend
Nature coming full circle
The green man

The Green Man is a Wiccan deity who represents fertility and dies in Winter, to be reborn in Spring.
yes i do believe this has to do with the wiccan culter and the changes of the seasons. its fucking beautiful and just absolutly love it!!!!
Its actually about the days Peter worked is the city as a garabage man, during that time he wore a green jumpsuit and all the kids in parks and such would call him the green man.
The Green Man is an old pagan deity. I'm mainly adding this because he may have been adopted as a "wiccan" deity but he is far older. I've got no problem with the whole wiccan thing, it's people that claim to have magical powers that give me the shits.
The song is about him working at Brooklyn Heights Promenade. He was in charge primarily of cleaning the park. Kids in the neighborhood dubbed him The Green Man because:
He was a gentle giant, and got along with the kids very well.
The song is reference to both the Celtic vegetative diety symbolising rebirth in Spring, and Peter's alias by the kids in the city park that he worked in. He seemed rather fond of the colour green in general and usually donned green shirts, hats, basses and basses with green hardware & frets. Green was usually the theme colour for lighting and backrdops of TON's stage sets. The TON logo is green. Every TON album has green on album cover artwork, except for Bloody Kisses which has green text on the back and green labels on the vinyl. R.I.P. Green Man.
Just the turning of the seasons wrapped in a goth-like blanket for our consumption. I love singing along to this track.
um... isn't this about a tree? cause of the growing in spring, under the hard ground of winter adn being a green man, or green plant of some sort don't go tearing my balls off now

spring, summer, fall, winter .. life ... death .... "Nature coming full circle"
from a Wiccan perspective -- awsome tune. I use to have vivid dreams about it. -- details to much to list in here (no nothing sexual you deviants!)
This Song is about nature represented as the male son/husband of the Goddess. He is born in spring, pushing up through the ground and feeding the trees and grass with his energy. Through summer "Sol in prime" he maintains the growth of plants, but when autumn comes, he grows old and his power fades, turning everything different colors before they too die. Winter is the time of year when the Green Man lies dead, or dormant, before his rebirth again the following spring. While this song is overtly wiccan in inspiration, the cycle of birth, life, death, and rebirth has been the centre of most ancient animistic and pagan religions. The Green Man was Thagda to the druids, Horus to the egyptians, and many other names. Also brings hope of human rebirth. This song also gives me a lot of comfort and hope, because it reminds me that the joys of life will return in a new spring of hope after the long winter of dispair.
