May Flowers Lyrics

I colored this picture for you
A little girl crying in her room
Her mom's just outside the door
Holding her head

Her brother's outside shooting hoops
Yeah, you can see him past the windowsill
But we're not looking at him
The same ever again

"Baby, what'd he do to you?
Come on, what happened to you?
Tell Mama that you're ok"
May flowers
She won't say a single word
The doctor's gave up on her
"Some things just can't be cured"
Or covered up

These days, she's hardly alive
Uh-oh, oh-oh
She's already dead in the eyes
Uh-oh, oh-oh
The house has been silent ever since
Uh-oh, oh-oh
Tell me what happened to Caroline
Whatever happened to Caroline?
Whatever happened to Caroline?

Come on

"Now baby, what'd he do to you?
Come on, what happened to you?
Mama knows it hurts inside"
Deflowered
"When you're on your feet again
You'll grow a resilience
To those cold, unrelenting showers"
May flowers
Grow taller
The harder April storms on the land

If you knew those storms were going to come
I thought mothers protected their young
Uh-oh, oh-oh
Those rain clouds are hiding your son
Uh-oh, oh-oh
Now look at what happened to Caroline
Look at what happened to Caroline
Whatever happened to Caroline?
How do we solve a problem like
Uh-oh, uh-oh
Uh-oh, uh-oh
Uh-oh, we don't
Uh-oh, uh-oh
Still, we've got to catch those clouds
We've got to keep them down
How do we solve a problem
We don't want to know about?
Uh-oh, uh-oh
Uh-oh, we don't

Writing lyrics down by ear is a lot harder than i thought. Especially since there's no way to grip it. Get it? Anyway, these lyrics are pretty close, but I'm sure I made a couple of mistakes, so if i did, tell me and I'll change them. Hey, it's better than no lyrics at all. This is one of my favorite cursive songs, and I was sad to not see any lyrics for it, so I finally decided to do it myself. The last minute of this song is amazing, everything comes together so great. I never really got the meaning until i just wrote the lyrics, but i deduce that the brother is a bastard and raped her or molested her, something like that, and just like most people who go through traumatic experiences, she's disconnected from the rest of the world. Great song, by a great band, and i haven't heard any new news about Tim Kasher and his lung, how's he doing now? Oh, also, check out my band, Jaded Teenager, well our lyrics anyway, here at Songmeanings.

where do i get this song and where do i get a burnable version?

Cover art for May Flowers lyrics by Cursive

It's on the Eight Teeth To Eat You Split which contains four amazing, AMAZING songs by Cursive, as well as four songs by this band Eastern Youth, which is Japanese i believe. Pretty cool stuff. As for a burnable version, if you're going to try to get the song for free, do your own homework. Trust me, it wasn't that hard for me to find it.

i was kind of pissed... dont get me wrong, this is a great song, but the guitar solo on this track just doesn't sound too good. it just sounds pretty dissonant, and bad. nonetheless, cursive is one of my favorite bands.

i think this song deals with the rape or abuse of a little girl by her brother.. which is a very odd theme, but its an amazing song, tim kasher is one of the best vocalists around.

although the theme is disturbing this is such an amazing song "How do we solve a problem we don't want to know about?" Kasher might be trying to say it happens more often than we think.
