Nowhere And Everywhere Lyrics

She's been travelling the streets for hours
Stopping, as every moment of truth wanders past
Window shopping for religion or something harder
Than the coins in her pocket
She is way too pretty for prime-time New York
She gets the business everytime she takes a walk
Amid the shark-smile porno scenes
But they can't ever touch her
Their disappearing queen

She is
Nowhere and Everywhere
Nowhere and Everywhere
Nowhere and Everywhere
At the same time...

She's as shady as cheap sunglasses
But as perfect as this October Monday passes
To a draggin-your-soul-around-town rhythm
Always in such a hurry, but never too fast
Playing chicken with delivery boys
And tag with the subways
Searching alleys for proper company
She's jumping in and out of cracks
She's got everything you lack
And though she entered unnoticed
You will feel it when she leaves

She is
Nowhere and Everywhere
Nowhere and Everywhere
Nowhere and Everywhere
At the same time...

We belong - in gutters and glittering lobbies
We belong - to a streetlamp flickering out
We belong - to absolutely nothing

Getting out of a taxi the other day
My heart fell out of my backpack and into a puddle
And so my chest was empty but it felt OK,
I just Fished out the pieces and walked away into

Nowhere and Everywhere

I freakin' love this song. I first heard it on the Practical Magic soundtrack. As for meaning, I think maybe its about living out our lives without meaning... Just going through the motions without putting any heart into it. I just love that last verse.

I heard it from the Practical Magic soundtrack too! It's a really good soundtrack if you ask me... I can't seem to find any of her other songs on Limewire. It's saddening, because this song's one of my favourites of all time. Like..no one knows of it. Hence why I'm only the second person to comment.. and probably the last.

Anyway, I think it's about not really knowing who you are and desperately trying to find yourself. I think that the girl in the song is a really special person, but she doesn't know it, and neither does anybody else. It kindof reminds me of that teenager stage where you aren't really comfortable in your own skin and at that point in their life, everything is a journey to finding who they really are. That's what I interpret with this song,

Michelle Lewis is an amazing singer.. the way she sings it is so calming and melodic. Beautiful, beautiful voice.

You definitely are not the last one to comment. Another Practical Magic fan, movie and soundtrack has always stayed close to me, still can't stop listening to this song.

Something about this song sounds so free to me and alive, although the tone or the meaning i get from it sounds as she is wandering through the world or looking out for something, feels like she can't fit, i guess in a way like Sally (sandra bullock's character). She is finding that peace is finding that place in every place she has been. Its a fun, free song and at the same time she is staying hopeful.

Practical Magic is one of my favorite movies. I recently just bought the soundtrack. “Nowhere and Everywhere” is a very special song to me. I play it over and over again. Can’t get enough. I feel strongly it’s about a very young lost soul who can’t find herself. I feel its got a lot of depth in the melody. Who knows. Only Michelle! Awesome song

Practical Magic fan here too! I always felt such a connection to this song. It speaks to me of being a lost soul, in a sense someone who feels invisible to the world, going about life but unnoticed. Or that life is somehow all around but she’s not quite part of it. Idk. The whole soundtrack is amazing and the movie is dear to my heart. There’s a little witch in all of us.
