Why do i see this song as a 'losing my religion' sort of, taking a a break from religious barriers song? it's a awesome and powerful song.
I think this song is angry and a little sarcastic at the same time. Kind of like "Throwing Stones" part II. "You manipulate me with your catholic shit", and here we have "you walk the road to resurrection, and I walk the road to dead, even though I never knew my devotion, coz' well, I'm not a religious person, you fucktard. But by my 'actions', you keep telling me I'm going to hell, you selg-righteous prick". Or something of that sort.
Not sure, but here are my thoughts.
She was religious. She was faithful and obedient. Then she bonded with a non-believer whom she converted. After a time, for whatever reason, she no longer desired to adhere to the doctrine she was once faithful to. Her companion however, is now more devoted to the religion than to her. Her companion decides to walk away from the relationship and disappoints her. I think she is especially disappointed because, although her companion believes everything she taught them, they do nothing to save her in return.
