This doubt is screaming in my face
In this familiar place,
Sheltered and concealed
And if this night won't let me rest
Don't let me second guess
What I know to be real put away
All I know for tonight and maybe I just might learn
To let it go take my security from me
And maybe finally I won't have to know everything

I am falling into grace to the unknown to where you are
And faith makes everybody scared it's the unknown,
They don't know that keeps me hanging on
To you I got nothing left to defend
I cannot pretend that everything makes sense
But does it really matter now if I do not know how
To figure this thing out
I am against myself again trying to fit
These pieces in walking on a cloud of dust to get to you

At first the song starts off by saying, "Oh no, I'm failing again. I can't ever get anything right." (hence the lyrics, "THIS DOUBT IS SCREAMING IN MY FACE / IN THIS FAMILIAR PLACE". Then it turns into saying that the only reason they're still with the person/around the person is because they're so unpredictable. "And I am falling into grace / To the unknown / To where you are" describes the unpredictability.

His fake world is being ripped from him. All of what society teaches about the world, is being proved false to him. He is pleading with God to let some of this facade be real. He was so secure and sure in his world. He gets to the point, where he needs to go out on a limb and take a chance in God. He eventually realizes that only God has life all figured out and that the unknown, the thing that frightens him, is the thing that keeps him hanging on to God. A good song for our time.

Isn't this song beautiful? I love it! I think that what he's saying is maybe the reason why others don't embrace God is because faith scares them but it's what scares them that makes him cling even more to God... maybe thats not what he means but that's how I feel... Have a nice day! ~Chuckie~ (that's me;))

This song was wrote with lifehosue manager Jude Cole and producer Ron Aniello. Jaosn wasnt planning on co writing but Jude had the chorus. It fitted in with jasons other lyrics. Her wrote the verses to it and the bridge just all went together . so there isnt really a definate meaning, because is co written it is up to you what it means coz it cant mean the same to all of the writers

"Don't let me second guess what I know to be real". Amen to that.... "I cannot pretend that everything makes sense, but does it really matter now?" to me that part is like he's saying he can't explain everything or even pretend to have a tiny idea of the answer to the theological questions. but you get to a point where it doesn't really matter anymore. You get to a point where religion and beliefs fade away and all that's left is you and god and faith... that's when it's beautiful.

"It's the unknown, the don't-know, That keeps me hanging on to you".. I think this song is about the thrill of not knowing whats gunna happen next and the fact that he doesnt know the answer to everything but it doesnt matter in the end. Its an amazing song..

I like this song a lot. My opinion is that this is about someone who can't stand to know everything. It's what he doesn't know, the mysterious nature of everything which sustains him and keeps him living. Almost like a scientist's vision of the world.
