She Said Lyrics

And theres no clothes I can buy
Make me feel like myself
She said
So I put on clothes
To make me look feel like someone else
Instead

As a matter of fact I don't like to be seen
Cause I'm not satisfied with myself She said
You better hit her
She said She said She said She said
She's dead

There no perfume I can buy
Make me smell like myself
So I put on perfume
To make me smell like someone else
In bed

And as a matter of fact
I don't like to be scented
I don't like to smell myself
She Said
You better hit her

She said, she said, she said.
She said She said
But I'm not afraid
Of being more than pretty
While your getting paid
To wind yourselves up untill you drop
Yeah..

There no one I can talk to like
I talk to myself
She said
So I play games to make them
Think I'm someone else
It's inbred

As a matter of fact
I don't like to be seen
Cause I'm not satisfied
with myself She said
You better hit her

I'm not afraid
Of being more than pretty
While your getting paid
To wind yourselves up untill you drop

She said, she said, she said.
She's dead, she's dead She's sad She's played
It's ingrained shes stained shes played Shes trade

I've fucked up inside my own head and what the hell I'm doing
In a place like this I know exactly why I'm here ---- me

Can't believe no one's posted before me. Anyway, I think this is about material posessions and how there's nothing you can buy to make yourself more individual. Great song, does anyone know of any cover versions or if it's been used for a soundtrack or TV show?

@alfiebaby dunno if you’re still looking 19 years later but I’m about to release a small cover of it on Instagram @thebandvandangos this week

The only reason this song is not commented on is that in The U.K at the time there was an overabundance of talented bands that started with The Stone Roses, Happy Monday's etc. and developed into what's known as Britpop of the 1990's. The Longpigs without doubt had it all. Except enuf airplay An money behind their P.R... London radio was only jus then getting its own indie FM radio station. XFM (a former pirate radio station) but Too little too late. Crazy but true. The perfect screaming of Longpigs lead singer Crispen (can u get anymore of a middle class English name than that) An good looks should have catapulted him into stardom. God this guy can sing. This song in my opinion defines the britpop era wen I hear it. As do Oasis songs. I think this song is about identity. And girlfriends who are jus happy to be ornaments. Rather than have a real identity of their own. The continued success-failure of brilliant bands like the Longpigs and Shed 7's song, She Left me On Friday....Was caused by lack of a indie FM stations early on.

And another thing. The Longpigs were kinda screwed over by Elektra Records right in the middle of everything. And Crispin Hunt lead singer was in a coma for 3 months due to a car accident. (Was he high or drunk?) They didn't have as much bad luck as the UK band The Charlatans (not the U.S the Charlatans) but close. I'm surprised U2's record label didn't succeed in rescuing this amazingly talented band.
